I just received an invitation to a housewarming party for a couple my fiancee and I are friends with. They included a list of places they were registered at. The thing is, they've been married for several years and it seems as if I am looking at the registry of newlyweds. They have toasters and shower curtains and dinnerware sets. We just bought them items like this three years ago! They're already established a home and just built this one, so they it seems as if they are trying to use this party to upgrade what they have. Is this normal? I feel as if it is cheesey. My fiancee spent well over 150+ hours helping with the building of their home and is also helping them move all this upcoming weekend. We were planning on just bringing a nice card and some cookies since he had contributed so much time to the home, but now I feel as if we're obligated to bring a gift. Just wondering if I am being a prude or if I have the right to raise an eyebrow! Thanks in advance! :)

So what's the reason behind it? Whenever I go to restaurants or bars, employees there call me so, and it makes feel uneasy. Is that because I look childish or stupid or what? I don't see them calling others so.

Ok, here goes ... my husband and I got married January 27, 2007, and as of today, more than half of the thank you notes have yet to be sent! I know, I know. We're being real jerks about it, and I feel sick just thinking about it. The thing is, we have moved twice, and were financially strapped for a long time. Now that we're back on our feet, how do I explain for the delay in sending the thank you note? Should I just send lengthy apology letters instead?

1. I am graduating college on May 10th. When should I send out the announcements and invitations?

2. I heard announcements are basically a way to get money from family and friends, is this true?

3. Do I have to invite everyone I sent announcements to, to the actual ceremony?

I met this woman when I first entered college, and we became friends. We like to get together once and awhile away from school for a movie or playing board games, etc,.. However, almost every single time we have made plans, they either don't fall through, or we do them hours after the time planned. The reason for this is her tardiness. We'll make an agreement to meet a venue, i'll get there, and she won't be there. I've waited hours for her on so many different occasions. I'll call her numerous times, yet I may not get a hold of her until the next day. She gives me excuses like she went to sleep or decided to clean.

Does this not sound like complete and utter disrespect to me?

Most of the time we agree that it would be best if we met at my place to play games and what not. She won't show up until 3-5 hours after the agreed upon time. I've told her many times that I want to start playing early, like after supper so I don't stay up all night and am tired when I get up with my son.

For me, this older lady next to me brings in a very smelly garlicy (strong) home-made lunch almost every day! It's completely disgusting. Plus she has her aim sounds on (loud) and i get to hear every time someone sends her an im. it drives me crazy and forces me to wear headphones. She also peers over the cube wall to watch what i am doing. AHHH!!!

There is a family in my neighborhood that appear to be the "perfect" family. The husband is attractive, intelligent, a good provider and a good Daddy. The wife is 16 years younger than he and quite a pretty. She is President of the PTA and a good Mommy. They have 2 beautiful children, an 11yo boy and a 9yo girl. They just got a puppy; and have the perfect little house, on a perfect little street, in our perfect little neighborhood. Everything seems truly "perfect" but it's not. I know for a fact that the husband been having an affair, perhaps not his first, for over a year. The wife doesn't seem to have any idea. It just breaks my heart. I don't really know her. Do I keep this information to myself? Help, I need your advice, I'm at a loss!

I got married in september. My maid of honour was less than helpfull during the planning but we had fun anyway. She never showed up as promised to my gift opening thus never gave me a present. Not even a card. I have seen her twice since my honeymoon but she has made no mention of a gift - but she has talked about how much she indulged in the open bar etc... I do not know how to mention that I feel a little sad that she has not even given us a card.
One more thing that I am upset about is that she had previously alluded to a breadmaker. Our Emcee had purchased one for us long before the big day but returned it when he saw that it had been duplicated on the registry. He spent the day before our wedding searching for another gift - we really love to make bread and he is a pretty thoughtful guy. We have not received a breadmaker and wonder why my MOH is doing this?
what should I do?

Every time I take my 95 year old grandmother out she steals things. she tells me she does it because she thinks the "black people" will take it if she doesn't. Its not her fault shes racist because she grew up in a time period where that was acceptable, but its getting to the point where I can't take her anywhere because she yells vulgar racial slurs to the black people we come into contact with. How can I talk to her about his without her getting upset and beating me?

All of sudden i call him, he says "jen is here" i said whos jen?, hes oh my friend want to say hi,
Then i called him another time asking to hang out, hes says sure "Me and jen will meet you"
I didnt say anything but i got the message.
I even asked him another time to do something with me, he said sorry hes busy with jen...

I tried emailing just saying hi and catching up, i got no reply;

I dont really understand? I know he replaced me obviously, but i dont see how he can just get rid of me like this, no contact at all,
its been 6 months now. I miss him alot, My Mom liked him alot, he always came over, she always asks about him.

My husband works for a firm that routinely gives him tickets to sporting events, takes us out to nice dinners and just recently brought us to a resort for the weekend so that he could have training...of course, we were all treated to spa services and whatnot....in fact, last night we were treated to a lovely dinner at a local restaurant, and tonight we have tickets from one of the partners to go see a sporting event...the tickets cost 200 a piece!

I feel uncomfortable accepting such nice things without saying thank you but my husband said that he gave his superior a thank you note and the superior told him it wasn't necessary...

I am wondering if it is appropriate to write a thank you note for these things and if so should I continue to write thank you notes and group things together like "thank you for the lovely weekend, the dinner on tuesday, and the tickets to the game" how much is too much...at what point does it look like I am maybe sucking up to my husband's boss??

Do you think both guys and girls expose too much when wearing sleeveless attire? And perhaps their underarms contain bacteria that could be getting into the air and making us all sick?

Scientific responses would be great on this one, but anyone may comment.

of them to not call back. I have a friend that I love to death but I call her and it's often 2-3 days before I ever hear from her. So making plans with her is very difficult. I text when I can b/c I know she is busy. However, now she doesnt reply to those. No it's not a blow off. she's always been like this and she does it to others. I want to some how convey to her that her actions are inconsiderate of others.
However, before I do I would like a solid time frame to give her so that she knows when to reply/return phone calls before making others mad.

Thanks

I'm a tutor and I have a coworker who I've never seen do their job. This person never asks any of the students if they need help and if a student asks them something, my coworker comes over to me for the answer (interrupting me and the student I'm helping). I don't think my coworker is unwilling, I think they don't know the material. I talked to a student who came in for help on a day I wasn't there and never came back because this person couldn't answer any questions. Also, the hours I can work per week are limited because of funds, but this person is getting paid to do nothing.

Should I tell my boss or just let it go? Then if I say something, how do I word it? I'm not trying to be a tattle tale or cause trouble, but it looks really bad and demoralizes the student if they come in and the tutor can't answer any of their questions. This person not doing their job reflects on all of us.
