So what's the reason behind it? Whenever I go to restaurants or bars, employees there call me so, and it makes feel uneasy. Is that because I look childish or stupid or what? I don't see them calling others so.

It's a nice way to address an ADULT not a child. Get over your overly developed sensitivities and sense of worth and enjoy people being nice to you. There's plenty of meanness in the world, enjoy this tiny bit of affection from one human to another.

I work in a hospital and a lot of the nurses call the patients they care for, whether age 20 or 80, sweetie, honey, dear, etc. So, some people just call everyone those types of names. I doubt it's because of the way you look/act. Some people just do that to everyone. I'm in my mid-twenties and got ID'd to see an R rated movie, then the person I showed my ID to told me, "Okay, thank you sweetie." Just kind of have to roll your eyes or sigh deeply when you're out of view and let it go. Or, if it's someone you see on a regular basis, just tell them that you'd prefer to be called by your first name.

sweetie, maybe it's because you are a dear!
lol just kidding
I HATE that!! I know I am younger than you,
but I look a LOT younger than I am, some lady
at the restaraunt wanted to give me a
color book and crayons one time
and asked what I wanted from the
kids meal
and I am 15 years old....
hahaha. I think it is something that
they really think is necessary, because..
Its their way of speaking
otherwise they just think you are sweet
and dear! Nothing wrong with that right?
But I guess I do not understand everything, if I did know
I would have told you already.

Maybe take it as a compliment that you look young, I rather be called sweetie or dear then sir or mister. I think its just the way you perceive it. Being young is good, before you know it they will be calling you Mamm and you will wonder why they dont call you Dear or Sweetie anymore. :)

They do. I mean, I get people older than me calling me 'Ma'am'. Some people say it because it is a part of their character. I doubt it as anything to do with the way you look, but more as an endearing term.

People did that to me way back in High School. I hated that. Just ignore them, some do that just out of habit♥

Well I would rather be called that than "Ma'am". I am also in my 20s.
and "Ma'am" makes me feel ancient.
I like "Ms" or "Miss" better because it sounds more youthful.

i sort of go through the same thing. i've decided its because i'm in the in-between phase of being a "miss" and a "ma'am". so people say "sweetie" or "hon".

it doesn't bother me, its cute.
