Like when someone like your relatives or friends passed away abrubtly, How did this cause you to feel?
Did you feel like everything was surreal and that you were falling down a black, deep abyss of hopelessness or what?

I do not work directly below this person (I am in a different dept) but we are friendly. I have never met any of her family and we do not talk very personally. She invited everyone in the office to the funeral and I found out someone in the office who knows her less than I do is planning to go.

I originally felt that it would be appropriate to not go since I do not know the family, but now I am having second thoughts.

The total is around $15, and I am being charged a delivery fee of $1.25. Does the delivery fee go to pay the driver, or am I expected to tip in addition to that amount?

There is more than just a health concern when it come to people's habit of smoking.
Smokers litter. If someone would throw a food wrapper on the ground, they would be seen as littering, but it seems that smokers can get away with throwing their cigarettes out all over the ground and out their car. What are they doing? They're littering!
Smokers make it as though their habit is a necessity 24/7. For example; they're are people who drink alcohol, but are people allowed to take "beer breaks" at work to feed their craving? NO! People wait til they get out of work. So why can't smokers wait until they get out of work instead of taking a smoke break every hour at work? Even alcoholics have some control over their habit than smokers have of theirs.

Admit it, smokers...you have a bad habit which goes way beyond your health and second hand smoke and you make all of the society around you feel the effect of it.

We have been married for 28 years and she has been a good wife and mother. However, she does not know how to be polite to me when asking for something. The request usually goes something like this: Get me a drink, or Open the door. On rare occasions, a "please" might follow the request but usually after a pregnant pause. I have never hear her say something like: Please, could you get me a drink? or Could you open the door please?
I have brought this issue up with her on some occasions and usually get the silent treatment because she is angry that I corrected her (gently). I don't bother any more and just accept the fact that I am emotionally castrated by her talking to me like others talk to the pet dog. Unfortunately, she never learned the magic work when she was a kid and I have suffered with it for too long.
Any suggestions other than divorce? It's like a knife every time I hear her demand instead of ask..

Quite frankly, we are enjoying the silence and don't care if said person ever speaks to us again. What should we do? We are open to all suggestions and comments...sarcastic, practical, serious, humerous, etc.

I'm a VERY honest person I tell someone the truth even if they don't want to hear it, but they need to, everyone needs to know the truth. some of them get offended but they always thank me later. that's what I would want ppl to do for me, I do that for them.
I've been made the villian and victimized for telling the truth when asked. but it's worth it honesty's the "only word". I won't do sombody something if I wouldn't be cool or understandible for the consequenses of my actions if they did the same, I would not ask a favor that I wouldn't do it for them, the golden rule.
but most ppl want to sugar coat and tell "white lies" to avoid and hide the unpleasant truth like cowards, but you can't runnaway from the truth..why can't most ppl do the same for me even when I beg them to they don't and I can easily tell is someone's lying. but does anyone have ideas of what I should do? does anyone agree? if you tell white lies why, tell me if I changed your mind?

I am a junior in college, and I value my education a lot. I really try to learn and actually take in what the teacher says, not only because I like to learn, but what the teacher says is important for tests. I find it very annoying and just plain rude when other students are talking, laughing and mumbling when the teacher is talking. It gets even more rude when the teacher has to stop every so often to remind the class not to talk when he/she is talking. This type of stuff is in the syllabus, and most of it is manners that were taught in elementary school. Why do students do this? Who else think its rude?

I have two sisters--one twin sister, and a 14 year-old sister. We're really as close as glue--as my mom would say. We put our arms around each other, we hug, we kiss (on the cheek, of course), and I've developed a habit of placing my hand on my sisters' thighs! My sisters see nothing wrong with that, nor do I! I asked them if they feel uncomfortable with it, and they said it was okay! They don't complain! But then, our prying neighbors say I'm perverted, and that I'm having "incestous relations" with my sisters!?

My mother in law came over for dinner last night and said a prayer to bless the food. I am so tired of her doing this as I consider myself a wonderful cook. I became angry and flung the mashed potatoes all over her. My hubby says I am overreacting...what are your thoughts? Sometimes he sides with his mother too much.
