When my grandparents died i went through the typical feelings. Shock, denial, anger, and then acceptance. It is a part of life that we do need to eventually accept. Although, a lot of people stay in the denial or anger stage and that's what causes problems. But i believe that if your heart is close to God and you understand the process of death, you will come upon the acceptence and be able to handle your life eaiser now that they are missing. Then you will be able to smile or laugh when you see a picture or memory of them.

I hope, that if this has happened to you lately, you will be able to accept it and move on to live your life but always remember them. God bless!

Well, thankfully I've not had too many loved ones pass abruptly... But I have lost my best friend (not exactly sudden tho) and it left me immensely sad. I think of her still and feel no less lonely than on the day she left... I wouldn't describe it as falling down an abyss or whatever...because I have a life to lead and can't allow that feeling into my heart, but I will miss her and learn from my time with her :)

I lost my mother, who was also my best friend, a year ago and it was horrible. It wasn't sudden, but the cancer took her life within 45 days of being diagnosed. She was all I had. I felt immensely sad, lethargic, alone, had severe panic/anxiety attacks at night, felt guilty for everything I had done badly to her in my life, had no desire to continue living, scared, depressed, etc. I finally had to go on medication to help relieve the depression and anxiety. The medication helped a lot. I miss her dearly and always will. You never get over a death, you just learn to accept that they are gone and keep them in your memories. The most important thing is to keep busy and don't feel bad if you have to ask for help from friends or your family doctor.

When my folks passed away ,10 years apart,I was just sort of numb.No tears to speak of.At the funerals I felt I had to be strong for everyone else.Maybe one day I'll just break down, over them ,my time in Viet Nam,the estrangement from my brother who stole a lot of the estate at my Dad's death, not yet though.Maybe one day.

I experienced the death of my uncle. He was sick for a time before the death. I remember that I had feelings of relief at the end of his suffering. He had cancer. I also remember that I felt angry at my uncle. Then, I felt angry at my myself for being angry at my uncle who was no longer around. My mom and dad, and other relatives made me realize that it is okay to feel sad, and that I should allow myself to feel sad, that it is part of the grieving process. They explained to me that the reason I was angry at my uncle was that I felt my uncle didn't measure up to my expectations. So, I recognized the source of my anger, and as a consequence I was able to work through it.

sadness...a deep sorrow...followed by hopelessness...gradually just became emotionally numb:( sometimes random things remind of that person and my eyes just tear up.

I felt sick and my stomach was tight as if I had been punched. I sighed a lot, too.
