Sprinkling a ring of salt is a common practice for protection and safety in witchcraft. It's absolutely not professional and should not be done in the work place. I don't think it was done with malice intended, but if it bothers you you may want to report the strange activity to your boss.

I'm not really sure about the particular customs in Mexico, however, salt is used to ritually cleanse an area. Either your co-worker is trying to protect you or is making it clear he/she sees you as unclean. You might want to have a chat with this person and ask what's going on with this.

I've seen salt and allot of it put on the floor around people in a circle to call to spirits and in a cleansing ritual of a house.
Spirits were being asked to leave a house and the people remained in the circle of salt to be protected.
Only other thing I would say to do is get the margarita mix and glasses. Were getting drunk at work! woooo hooooo

Hmmm. interesting. I looked up salt superstitions and couldn't find anything with a Mexican Flavor (pardon my pun)
All I found was this:
People in Ireland give a plate of salt and oatmeal to newly-weds to ensure happiness. In Netherlands, parents protect babies from harm by putting salt in their cradles.

As long as your co-worker doesn't sprinkle salt ON you and begin carving you up like a turkey, I don't think you should worry....

why don't you ask your co-worker what is up with the salt?

god bless

I don't know about Mexicans, but as a Witch, I consider it a means of cleansing/purification. I'm thinking she probably doesn't like you very much, sorry. I'd tell her to clean her mess up and not come near again.

I believe it's for luck, just as the Italian culture tosses a bit over the shoulder for luck when cooking-same thing. Good Luck :)

It means you people are wasting your boss's money on things that have nothing to do with work. report the person to your superior and then get back to work.
