My husband got diagnosed with diabetes and the doctor is having trouble regulating it. He has been in the Hospital a couple times. He keeps having attacks. He is depressed because he didn't have medical coverage before and now no one will pay for anything affiliated with diabetes. His friend called (he's in a local band) and wants to throw a benefit for him. My husband thinks that people should only do benefits for those having ailing diseases. What is your opinion on this. It would help us pay the medical bills off, which would be so much relief on me. We both work full time and I send the Hosptial and doctor what I can, but it does cost us 100.00 for him to go to the doctor and he has to go every two weeks. Plus now we owe the Hospital 5,000.00. Would is be wrong to let him throw the benefit????

We recently moved to a really nice newly renovated apartment complex, and we pay a lot of money, but upon moving in we noticed that we could our upstairs neighbors WAY to much. They are the only ones that BLAST their TV, their rap music, they walk around with shoes on and it sounds like a heard of elephants is going to come falling through the ceiling.

Talking to them has done nothing. It is a teenager and his single mom, When the mom is home it is tolerable, but the kid just takes pleasure in being a pain and causing more noise. He even bounces his basketball on the floor....

Anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions to be equally annoying to only the upstairs apartment? My side neighbors are great and I never hear anything from them, so I don't want to start bugging everybody.

I only ask because, when I was working in an asylum seekers hostel, the team decided to provide condoms on request to our residents.
Preparing a party, I went to the supermarket with my (ethnically different) step-son. In our trolley there were six bottles of wine, a crate of beer, 400 cigarettes AND 24 packets of condoms.
The eyebrows of the woman at the cash desk disappeared above her hair-line. She looked from me to my step-son and then back to me. I said, 'We're having a party.' I could hardly have said the truth: 'The condoms are for work!'

i have noticed, and so have many others that im easily triggered and that i have the tendency to blow up if things do not turn out as i intend them to. i get defensive really easily and many times, i get so worked up that i get somewhat aggressive (shoving, giving out threats, using harsh and rude words, to name a few) to the other party.

only today, i emptied a glass of water onto my sister because she annoyed me. i really hate it when im this way. i feel remorse and regret almost immediately after such occurences.

any suggestions on how i might be able to overcome this problem? thanks folks.

I really can't stand my husbands brother's wife, and don't want to invite her to the party. Is there a nice way of telling her that she is not invited?

If they want to shorten their own lives by smoking then that's their business, but why don't they at least have the courtesy to do it where there aren't any non-smokers around?

Should birthday party invites be reciprocated? If they invite you to their party (and you attend) should you invite them to your party?

OK, i live on a miltary base, our housing is side by side, duplex is what its called i think, any way. my neighbors kid, about 10-13, keeps blowing all his dirt , grass, etc.. every time he mows and edges in to my driveway. I normally don't mind the grass, but with the dirt, the stones etc.. are starting to scratch my car up . and now, their lint from their dryer is blowing all over my house and yard, i think their dryer is malfunctioning.

How do i bring this up politely and ask them to stop their kid from doing that again? Its been going on for over a yr now, and i try to be a nice neighbor and be polite, but their kid just doesn't care about others property.

also, they frequently have parties, which i don't care about, but their guests park my driveway in, and i can't get in or out . I ask them to move, but they always get a attiude with me, like its my fault their friends park in MY driveway.

How can i approch this nicely and not have to call the cops all the time?

I work in an office at night. I have a co-worker whom I see once a week, and I always walk her down to her car at 3 am and then go for lunch. She's working an extra day and leaving at 2 am. What's the proper etiquette? Should I still walk her down?

I was raised to open doors for women, open the car door (if I'm driving). I always pump the gas at gas station. This I've always thought was good manners. But more and more over the years I've been at the receiving end of extremely nasty comments by women who accuse me of being 'a sexist pig' etc.

Most of the women in my life tell me they appreciate it and would consider it rude of me not to do this. I try to treat my girlfriend like the fine lady she is. So I'm confused because I'm either rude or a sexist pig no matter what I do. This is a rather delicate issue because we work with women at the office everyday and guys don't know what we're supposed to do anymore?

Please tell me (and all men) what we are supposed to do????

Thanks in advance, even for all of the nasty insults I know I'm about to receive : )

My boss told us staff members at a meeting that we all need to lose our belly fat. Now, how appropriate is that? And is it any of his business. NONE of us are obese, but we don't look like Nicole Ritchie either.

I am incredibly embarrassed now to be around my boss. How would you handle the situation? It has made for a very akward business relationship now? And is it any of his business anyway? We don't for for gym or anything like that.

So few people value a real education - with open debate and formal learning...

They say things like "All the college in the world won't get ya any common sense!"

But could they be lacking in that very department themselves?

Is the term "common sense" a refuge for the uneducated wanting to maintain their comfortable level of ignorance?

For instance, if you know a person's name (anyone) and you tell it to the front desk at a hotel (hotels in general), would they typically give you their room number?

My first thought goes to "no", but... I'm not so sure.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Somebody at work has been stealing my lunch from the break room. I've thought about liberally applying some Visine to my next meal, so when I see somebody running frantically for the bathroom, I'll know who the thief is.

Also, do you think I could claim I was using laxatives with my lunch for weight-loss if I get caught?

A few people think I'm smart..

The truth is..I'm not smart..I just do the things I do normally..For example, I read a lot, and I do interesting things...Okay, maybe it's interesting to me, but others think the things I do are interesting as well.

How can I explain to them that I'm not quite intelligent?

I'm sorry if I sound arrogant to you...
