OK, i live on a miltary base, our housing is side by side, duplex is what its called i think, any way. my neighbors kid, about 10-13, keeps blowing all his dirt , grass, etc.. every time he mows and edges in to my driveway. I normally don't mind the grass, but with the dirt, the stones etc.. are starting to scratch my car up . and now, their lint from their dryer is blowing all over my house and yard, i think their dryer is malfunctioning.

How do i bring this up politely and ask them to stop their kid from doing that again? Its been going on for over a yr now, and i try to be a nice neighbor and be polite, but their kid just doesn't care about others property.

also, they frequently have parties, which i don't care about, but their guests park my driveway in, and i can't get in or out . I ask them to move, but they always get a attiude with me, like its my fault their friends park in MY driveway.

How can i approch this nicely and not have to call the cops all the time?

I would talk with base housing or the neighbors superior officer. You've been trying for a year to get them to improve, so its time to escalate the situation.

With the parking and driveway situation, I would try to position your vehicle so that they cannot get into your driveway. I would also block them in your driveway so that they cannot get around your vehicle. Go take a nice long walk around the base and when you come back inform the person who parked in your driveway to not park in your driveway again or you will get it towed.

Call the cops, get footage of the kid ruining your car/yard then bring it up with the neighbor that he needs to pay for damages.

If this has been happening for over a year then NO MORE BEING NICE. Call the cops or file a complaint. Way back when I was a child, my dad was in the military and when we lived on base there was always a person in the group of houses who was in charge. If you still have that go to him with your problems first. So in other words: 1. Housing Leader. 2. File a complaint with the Housing Authority. 3. Continue to call the police if they don't comply.

Good luck to you; they sound like lousy neighbors.

Honestly, you've been nice enough as it is already. I am also in the military and if it's one thing that I've learned, it's that you've gotta be straightforward in order to get what you want. Now, Im not saying to be rude or anything, but I really dont think your neighbors will take it personally if you ask them politely about the situation. Just casually bring it up and tell them that you dont mean to be anal or anything, it's just that you are trying to prevent an unwanted mess whenever you can. Then, if you would like, invite them over for dinner or invite them to go with you and your family on your next outing.

Hmmm... if they are the kind that get an attitude, it is hard to say what to do about the kid. Maybe you could talk to whoever is in charge of the housing and have them talk to the people. Come to think of it, that might help for the parking too.

I did have another thought on the parking though. You could just put your garbage can(s) there so that they are in the way and nobody can park there. It might make you have to get out to move it when you want to park there, but at least a space would be left for you, huh?

I think the first thing I would do is talk to the one in charge of housing though and ask them what they think you should do.

Your neighbors sound like real friendly people. If they won't respect you why should you be nice to them. I would get a video camera and film the kid damaging my car. Then I would give them the estimate for the repair. If they won't pay. Take them to court. I bet that will stop there friends from blocking your drive too. You can't be nice to bullies or they take more and more. If you show them that you are serious they will back off.

Guess what - when the MPs are called in or issues are brought to the Housing Management, a report goes to their supervisor.

I wouldn't hesitate in talking to them reasonably about the issues you have, but if they get cheeky, feel free to talk to Housing Management or the MPs (in the case of the rude parties anyway). But try and discuss it calmly and nicely first.

As far as your car is concerned, if you notice dents, report them to your car insurance AND file a report with either your Housing Manager or the MPs (talk to the HM first to see what they suggest). Usually your car insurance will pay for it, but they'll also want to see proof that you're trying to solve the problem.

Be nice about it, but be straightforward. Just stand up straight and knock on their door. Say "Hey, look there are some things I need to discuss with you." and give them your list of grievances. If they do not handle the problems go back again and tell them that if they don't handle it that you will call the cops. If they still won't, call the cops. Hopefully it won't come to that.

I agree with those saying talk to them about it politely, then if they cop an attitude go to the chain of command. Good luck.

You should tell them and nicely...There should be a senior rank in charge (housing coordinator), just for those kind of situations or the housing authority...If your neighbors blow you off.
