I miss the honesty. There was a time when a man's hand-shake and his word, was all you needed ... no contracts and lawyers. I miss going shopping with my mom at the "general store" ... I'd walk in ... the bell above the door would ring, as the door hit it. The wooden floors would creak, all the penny-candy in jars by the till. Gawd, I miss those days .....

How about you? what do you miss the most?

Edit: Forgot ... the smell of my mom's kitchen, when she was baking Christmas goodies ... Mmmmmmmmmmmmm.

In the US, using the verb 'fornicate' could be considered offensive or vulgar or not? For example, when refering to people having prmeritasex, could you use it with friends, family members, at work?

My husband's brother is getting married on December 15th. Their wedding was supposed to be semi-formal. They aren't having a dance or a dinner, just a luncheon with family and then an open house style reception. But the groom decided he wanted the dads and brothers to wear tuxes. But the bride doesn't care what the moms and sisters wear, mostly because of a limit of money. She does have two bridesmaids who will be wearing formal dresses in her colors, a friend and one of her sisters. On the groom's side there are 4 sisters, two of which have husbands who will be wearing tuxes. So my question is should the moms and sisters wear formal dresses or just semi-formal dresses or skirt/shirt outfits that are the best they have? I asked the bride and she doesn't even care about anything, "as long as she gets married." So pretty much her mom and one of the groom's sisters is planning the whole thing. Is there special etiquette for this?

If they are talking to you they will take calls without excusing themselves or anything would rather spend time with the phone ignoring people in the vicinity. How annoying do you find that? If you have given someone an appointment can't people not take calls unless it's an absolute emergency! People trying to pretend like you are not important enough to talk to and i'd rather be glued into my phone!

Or how about Asked? Why is it then, that many people pronounce it as if they were talking about a battle axe. "I aksed him", "Let me aks you something", and so forth. Is it really that hard to pronounce Ask?

My neighbours' children are playing very loudly at 5am. sometimes i even think they are throwing things at the bedroom wall. the mother sreams at them too. I complained to her this morning but she spoke broken english, so im not even sure she understood. i'm trying to find some sort of legislation that says that 5am is way too early for noise like this. i told her that if i can be quiet after 9pm so i didnt wake her kids up then i should be shown the same courtesy at 5am.

people from around the world. Yestday i gave a treatment to one guest (male) from switzerland and i kind of liked him on sight. He had kind and charming eyes and he's so polite.
From the usual general conversation i had with him, i learnt that he's single with no kids. He also asked questions like how old i was and if i had kids (he,looks older) am 25, no kids. I kinda think he likes me too.
I gathered the courage to go back to his room to ask for his email address, and he was more than glad to do so. He's still in house and will check out tomoro, what should i do or say to him before he leaves to let him know (in a not so overbearing or unprofessional way)that i like him and to make an impression on him, he's the kind of man I would marry. (plz don't misunderstand me, am not a desperate girl and i've never done or experienced such a thing in my 2 year carreer. Only serious answers pliz.

If you were working in an office with 5 people (who enjoy Christmas) and you were the only Muslim (or any other religion that is offended by Christmas) and your boss said no christmas deco is allowed in the workplace, would you not feel like a right twit? I mean would you not feel like that because of you, the people you work with are not allowed to have a little festive spirit? I know I would hate myself and I would beg my boss to let the others have their fun.
