If this is related to your 'briefcase' problem and DG's answer then you could pick his answer as best and write thank you in the comments section.
If this has helped you please do not post a question telling me thanks. Thanks.

It really depends on what they did for you and how grateful you are. For a small favor a genuine verbal thank you with a handshake or hug is all that is appropriate. For a bigger favor at a minimum a hand written thank you note is in order. It is up to you to decide if you want to send chocolates or flowers or what ever else you decide is important. Again it depends on the favor and also the type of person you are sending it to.
Maybe you could help us give a more intelligent response by telling us what the favor was and what type of person it was that did this service for you.

Boy, that would depend on the level of help given. Sometimes the simplest answer is the right one. A simple spoken thank-you or $1 card from Shoebox Greeting may make that person realize that their generosity was not overlooked. I would start there.

depends on what kind of help it was. Just tell them, a card is nice or get them something. However, if you know the person well and it was some personal help then I always like to take them to dinner. I love eating out, and shows them that you enjoy their company over fine food. But anything is nice, round of golf or something they enjoy. Good luck!

You can send a card saying thank you on the inside of it.
And also send some flowers or chocolate as well

I often give a gift. When I had some friends help take care of my house, I bought them a gift certificate to their favorite restaurant (they never go b/c too expensive) and a free night of babysitting
