My two stepsons are coming over in a couple weeks. Haven't seen them in over a year and a half when we visited them. One son has a wife and baby, the other son is bringing a friend. We've already got a hotel room for the son, wife and baby. The other son and friend are staying with us.

This is going to be for four days! I want to do as much with them as possible, but my husband and I need some alone time too if you know what I mean. How often should I cook? When we all go out to eat should we pay because we've already paid for the hotel and let them use our house?

I'm just trying to figure out the right way to handle this.

For the last few weeks, the neighbors on the other side of my bedroom wall have been very loud. The main tenant is Rosie. She is in a wheelchair. There used to be a nice woman who lived with her. She was her caretaker, but she moved away. Now there is this other lady who takes care of Rosie. Every Fri. & Sat night, she parks Rosie in front of the t.v. & puts it on very loud. She even leaves the door wide open. I have gone over there several times to ask the caretaker lady to turn down the t.v. She usually complies. However, it happens again the very next evening. Last night was the last straw. I saw the caretaker lady leave at 3am. She left the door open & the screen was unlocked. She never came back. The t.v was loud as usual. I just opened the screen & turned off the t.v.. Then I went to bed. My landlord has told me that in order for them to get involved, I have to call the police. The caretaker lady isn't a tenant. Maybe those rules don't apply to her. Please, help me. thanks

I found a pair of quality shoes on eBay, but the seller has misspelled the brand name of the shoes, so they're unlikely to show up in any direct search.

If I manage to win these shoes for, say, half what they're worth, am I any better than a thief? Or is it my moral obligation to not bid and instead to inform this fellow he's made an error?

And by "morals" I'm referring to a morality of life, not the Christian morality of death, so no Jesusy quotes to back up nonsense. Let's speak purely in well reasoned arguments based on the real world, thanks.

So my friend has this little joke with a few other friends in my group, they all call themselves certain characters (she's a pirate). So for Halloween, of course, she's dressing up as one. Early in the month, I mentioned that I was thinking of being a pirate for Halloween and she basically (kind of joking) said that I couldn't be one, because she was.

I tried to find another costume, but nothing really came together. I already have the perfect things for the pirate costume, and now that Halloween is so close, I think maybe I should just be one. I feel a bit like my friend has the previous claim on being one thing, because of this joke-thing, and I don't want to be rude or for everything to be unpleasant because she's mad about it.

I know that for girls, you would never buy the same clothes as your friend- that's definitely considered rude. Is this the same kind of thing? It might be a bit weird to be the same thing, maybe... am I over-thinking all this? What should I do?

when people refuse to spell words it gets on my nerves. The only thing I do is say "lol" or "lmao". It is getting annoying now. Can we type all the words for once, please? Who else thinks this is annoying.

They usually break them too, ie; my daughters new tricycle, hose nozzle, and our pumpkins! I have talked to the mom many times and she says they'll pay for the damages or replace the item, but they never do! What should I do?

My boss has no clue that I have had my house up for sale for the past few months. I got a very good offer on my home, and already have a home that I purchased in another state for a very low price. I'm ready to leave the state that I am currently in, and anxious to move in to my new home. I will be moving in after the first of the year. Any suggestions on how to tell my boss, without just blurting it out? Thanks.

My co-worker invited me to her wedding in December. It's probably going to be very small and low-key and I'm probably only going to the ceremony (which will most likely be all in Spanish since the invitation is) and not the reception. Is it required for me to bring her a gift? If so, how big/expensive would it have to be? I don't make much and she knows this, so I'm not sure what she's expecting.

We were out with friends Fri. night at a 'high end' very classy restaurant and we noticed a couple seated near us. The woman was talking on her cell phone nearly the whole time and her 'date' looked very sad and forlorn. We all agreed it was very rude of her. Also, we tried to ignore her and get back to our own conversations but, she was loud and sometimes drowned us out. This was an expensive night out and she wasn't giving her 'date' any attention. And I don't care who was footing the bill. We still all thought she was rude. What do you think?

Now its your turn. If you grew up in a small town, tell us where it is! Tell us what it was like. And if you're living in an urban area now, tell us what's different and what's similar. This ought to be fun! =D
