Because here you get to see other people's opinion, and not only the facts. Also, there are some questions that cannot be answered by research alone. It's relatively easier to chance upon someone who knows the answer directly rather than floundering about hundreds of pages looking for what you need yourself.

I think that Yahoo Answers is used by most people as a way of connecting with others about a variety of topics. Those who ask homework questions are annoying though, so I would agree with you on that score..

It's a social forum. People are curious what other people think.
I can't understand, however, why people use Wikipedia to do any sort of research.... it's an encyclopedia forum where you can change the info.... I've read many answers from people quoting Wikipedia that are downright wrong! Unreal.

Darling, sweet Louise, i know how you feel. We must get together and discuss this further. At your place of course. I know what your thinking[ ESP] and totally agree. We can start a programe to "Deyahoo" people. And maybe start a University for the clowns to learn. I feel WE have so much in common WE should get married, populate with thinking children, and start our own country. Too much for you??

Sometimes it's just curiousity for something like "McDonalds or Burger King?" Sometimes you want to hear other peoples' life experience. Like good places to see when you travel, new cooking ideas, etc... You want first hand knowledge rather than google or wikipedia.

I've wondered that question many-a-time. People are lazy, or don't know how to look things up, or would rather hear many peoples opinions.

*shrugs* Who knows. Its conveniant, and easyer to let other people look stuff up from you for free, I guess :)
