when people refuse to spell words it gets on my nerves. The only thing I do is say "lol" or "lmao". It is getting annoying now. Can we type all the words for once, please? Who else thinks this is annoying.

It does get annoying after a while...I only use lol and omg, but that's it...

What's easier to read:

hw r u i m fine wat up i m brd wel i wl c u @ da gam l8r bi

or:
H

How are you? I'm fine...What's up? I'm bored, well I will see you at the game later. Bye!

Exactly, the second one is MUCH more comprehensible. What's so hard about typing the correct words? It doesn't take that much longer. I'm glad SOMEONE agrees with me on this!! :)

I've been around when the net was a baby. AND I had foreign parents. I've seen the lingo evolve. I use to use LOL as "lots of luck" until I became enlightened. I use lol, brb, b/c, and some other COMMON words, but when it doesn't even make ONE true word, I just get tired and want to stop reading because the person was to illiterate for me. My three children speak the lingo, mangling words and they say it is acceptable. It just drives me nuts. It's too late to fix it. Even the teachers accept garbage out of the mouths of kids, if what my kids tell me is true. My kids are teens and STILL asking me how to spell things. IF my parents were still alive, I would just die of embarrassment for the fact that they knew/learned more than my American born children!

It's not the internet lingo that bothers me. It's the fact that the people who do try to spell things out have obviously not spent a lot of time with the printed word. People's spelling and grammar are pretty painful. It makes me laugh that western countries regard themselves as being so much higher in the food chain than others because we can write, but then we let the skill slip away into oblivion as we spend our days watching the television.

Yes, and I noticed even when a lot of the people do spell a word out, they cannot spell. Maybe this is why so many are resorting to the lingo.

I think it's sad. Even professional business people resort to using internet lingo. I don't think that they resort to internet lingo because they can't spell, I think that they can't spell because they use internet lingo, and it's getting pathetic. Some people at my school can't spell very well at all. They can't spell pretty, or beautiful. They spell the words like perty, and buetiful. Sad, huh?

It is annoying but when the time comes for a job interview, I like to think I will have an advantage over those who cannot communicate properly.

well sorry, i mean okay if you're REALLY dislexic like you said, sorry about teasing your version of 'tomorrow'. but in your last question u did use words like 'knoe' im not sure if that was a typo or what. i use internet lingo sometimes b/c its easier and i can type faster with it. i just get annoyed when ppl say something like 'o m g!' when they're speaking to you in real life.

p.s. isn't ur name 'OMG its me?' did you know that OMG is internet lingo??

I do agree! It irriates me when everything is all abbrivated or 'cuz' blah blah blah. . .it doesn't take that much more effort to spell it out, and it sharpens your typing AND spelling skills! Even in email I type things out. The ONLY time it would make sence to me to shorten things and use this lingo is in texting, but I don't even have that on my phone, so I don't know how it works.

Type on, sistah!

I think it's REALLY annoying, especially now that people have started using it in business-related e-mails. I received an e-mail from a coworker this week that said "What time is good for u?" SO unprofessional!
