I let a girl stay with me for awhile until she gets on her feet. Last night, she left and took my house key. I didn't know she took my keys with her, and well...she didn't come back last night and I STILL haven't seen her today. Since I don't have my house key, I can't leave, because I can't lock my door. My spare key was given to my roommate who is in the hospital, so I don't have the spare either. I don't want to contact management because they're gonna ask me where my key is, and I don't want them to know about this girl that's staying with me. Also, this girl doesn't seem TOO interested in getting a job and helping out with the bills. Instead, she says her sister is sending money. I am not liking this situation, but...this girl owes me money AND she has money from a coworker that was given to her to pick up something for him. I had to miss class and a philosophy quiz today because I couldn't leave my apartment unlocked. What should I do? I'm sooooo mad.

The whole point is so you don't have to walk up steps, right?

Like walkin up the damn escalator is gonna get you where you need to be that much faster than just standin' still for 30 seconds...

I hate it when someone shows up at my counter (not checklane, counter, and stands there with their cart waiting for me to come out and put the stuff on the counter to check out. Also they will set their shopping cart (those little carrybaskets, or the bags we have for shopping) on the counter expecting me to take everything out. IT is annoying because I have to waste time taking everything out and finding somewhere to put the empty basket while I ring them up. This slows down the line when there is one. Why can't people empty their cart out on the counter or empty their backet out rather than just stand there? I had a guy push an entire cart of stuff inside where I stand at the register and I had to dig through his cart to ring everything up and then had to deal withhim argueing about the price of everything. Why can't people just empty their carts? This isn't a grocery store where the cart goes up to the moving belt, the cart in on the other side of the counter,

I am really attracted to him and I think he likes me because he is always finding excuses to pull up his shirt sleeves and show me his muscles. Like yesterday he wanted me to look at the spot where he had to get a tetanus shot at the Dr. last year and I couldn't see anything but his biceps flexing. Plus everytime he walks by my workstation he tries to hug me. My mother thinks he is too old.

My sister-in-law had a baby shower this past Saturday. I kept my son and nephew (ages 6 and 7) at my house and entertained them while my wife, sister, and mother went to the baby shower. Afterwards, my mother-in-law became upset that my wife didn't bring our son; she thought he should have went and felt my wife didn't bring him out of jealous spite. Hence, my question.

Last night our former neighbor and friend came over. She had just broken up with her boyfriend, and she also gave us some very interesting news. Friday night, Basil's wallet went missing. We thought that he dropped it somewhere, because we tore up the apartment looking for it. My friend told me that when her boyfriend was at our apartment on Friday night, he pocketed the wallet and spent the $80 in it on drugs. Now, he has no idea that we know. How should we handle this situation without giving away who told us he did it?

I'm friendly with this guy who's roughly in the same social circle as me. He's sweet enough but he's incredibly boring to talk to (please no lectures on "give him a shot"--I have) and he calls my phone at inoppurtune times with inane chatter. Every time he calls I say something like, "Sorry, I'm a bit busy now" but he isn't getting the idea.

Also, when I bump into him at bars/clubs he'll cling to me all night and when I say, "Alright, I'm going to go find so-and-so" he insists on coming with me. Again, not really grasping the leave-me-alone vibe.

My question is this: Is there any tactful way at all to tell this guy that I don't wish to talk to him/hang out anymore? I don't want to hurt his feelings but I really don't see any other way to remedy this situation other than being brutally honest with him. Help!

PS: He's gay, so it's not that he has a crush on me.

...for my friend's wedding this weekend?

It is a gift from me and my boyfriend (my "plus one guest", because he does not know either of them). Since my boyfriend does not know either of them, I am paying for his contribution toward the gift, as he did for me when we attended his friend's wedding whom I didn't know.

The bride and I are casual friends - in college we hung out a lot, but now it's more like we hang out once a year, and sometimes less.

Thanks!

When people use foul language (and I don't mean in an "everyday" sense, but rather directed toward me) I have a number of short, non-offensive retorts I like to use. What responses have you used that have made someone stop being so crass in their tracks?

My fiance and I have begun living with each other as a tester to see how compatible we are before committing completely. We have a lot of cultural differences, her from Panama and myself from Scotland, but we do seem to get on very well in general, But, she has a very strange custom that she brought from her family. She wishes to see the staus of my stools each time I go. She says that it tells a lot about the health of a person. Apparently the whole family over there would gather round and discuss it, and monitor changes. I can understand, from a biological point of view that it makes sense, but I just cant seem to get over it and have taken to going only at work. It always ends in arguments and I feel that the cultural difference in this respect could be too much. Should I just ´chill out´and welcome other customs, or should I stand my ground. Please, help! Thanks

I was wondering if chivalry is dead i stil practice it but feel as though i might be one of the few. it seems like the general feeling is that women are cheap and useless today(which i totally disagree with.)For those who don't know chivalry is opening doors for ladies as well as walking them home or to there car. Also many other manners of respect. I just feel that nobody my age(im 20) really does this anymore. Ive tried but seem to get a lot of resistance about it. let me know what you think.

I think my friend is jealous of me. I just got a part time job at a Law Office and she works at a store as a cashier. I go to school part time as well. I just told my friend about my part time job and she did not seem to be happy for me at all. She did not say congratulations or anything. She asked me several questions about my job and I answered them. But, when I said bye to her after my visit, she said bye to her best friend and said bye to me without making any eye contact whatsoever. My best friend told me congratulations to me and told me she was proud of me. Even my family told me congratulations. But, my other friend seemed kinda jealous or upset. I congrautlated her on some occassions on getting good grades in college. She is 28 and I'm 21. Would this be considered rude of what my friend did? Or, is she just acting immaturely?

A new family moved in next door. We live in a very nice neighborhood and I recently noticed that their car is such a distraction to the beautiful houses in the beautiful neighborhood. I'm not a car-person, so I'm not sure the make/model, but it's an old beat up white car that is rusted. The thing that bothers me is that they choose to park their car outside of their home instead of parking it inside their garage (even though it's a 3 car garage). The way our houses are situated, their parked car happens to be parked right next to my lawn, very close to my home. My question to you is, can I approach them and ask them to kindly park their car in the garage from now on so that A) people do not assume that it's ours and B) so that our neighborhood continues looking upscale and beautiful!

I hate when people make lame excuses or try to insult others in very childish ways.

I was at a restaurant the other day, and two teenage girls (at least 16 yrs old) and one of the girl's mother were sitting at a booth. BOTH girls had their feet on the seat. One was literally squatting, with her feet on the seat of the booth, the other was sitting with one foot up on the seat. (not tucked up nicely under her, but flat footed with her knee up above the table level).

Both of these girls were wearing nice makeup and nicely dressed. The mother was impeccably dressed and had an expensive designer bag. I find it amazing that they have no manners.

Does it bother you when you see people with their feet on chairs/booths/seats? It bothers me because they have their nasty dirty shoes that just walked across a dirty oily parking lot on a seat that I may be sitting on next. And you never know how recently they walked through dog doo either!
