Good manners never go out of style. But it's not for men alone.
One should never go through a door and allow it to slam in the face of the person behind them. If I go through a door, I hold it open for the person behind me regardless of gender, age, etc. It's just the kind thing to do, especially if somebody else has their hands full or has a shopping cart with small children, or is handicapped or elderly. Regardless of who holds the door open for whom, the other should always offer a gracious "thank you." Take notice that it works both ways: males & females hold open doors for each other & use polite manners towards one another. It needn't be a "chivalry" issue. Just one of common courtesy towards everyone.
Walking somebody to their car is more of a safety issue. I think that should still be done for whoever needs the escort more, a child, older person, woman, etc. Some of this depends on the location, the distance, and the time of day or night. Common sense should be the guide there.
There is no reason why people cannot be polite and be equal to everybody.

I don't believe that chivalry is dead, but I do think it is dying. There are a lot of women out there who no longer appreciate chivalrous gestures, and therefore, many boys are growing up witout being taught to BE chivalrous. I myself am kind of a mix of appreciating it, while at the same time resenting it. I allow my boyfriend to open doors for me and such, because I'm aware that that's how he is and he doesn't do it to be sexist or anything. However, when any other gentlemen try, my back stiffens up, and I find myself being resentful. I'm sure this is because in today's world, we women are never sure of what a man's motives may be. Whatever happens, though, don't lose your chivalry. Youi'll find an incredible lady who will appreciate it!

Well, I do kind of feel like chivalry has died a little. Hmph. Selfish men. Anyways, my mom (I'm only 12) tries to instill chivalry into my brothers. One of them is 24, so don't worry. I hope there's many out there that tries to keep chivalry alive. If not, then screw them.

The issues that I have observed with chivalry have been numerous, ranging from putting the woman in a subordinate position to appearing overly formal. In some cases, the woman may even feel physically threatened- she may not want a man she doesn't know well to walk her to her car, for instance.
You could get around these obstacles with a "gender neutral" or "modern" approach. For example, you could have your date order first in a restaurant instead of ordering for her. Or, you could arrange for a security guard to accompany you and her to her car. There are many possible ways for many situations.

I love the thoughtful and nice gestures of a gentleman . It is delightful to see in this no respect society we live in. Keep being yourself. Undoubtedly, someone loved you, and carried themselves in a way that taught you to respect women. And yes, chivalry died, dead!!! And I know some women that helped to kill it! LOL

No. I think lots of guys still open doors for women. But I think the opening/closing car door thing is not done as much. I never mind if a guy opens a door or lifts something heavy for me.

Yikes! Chivalry-is just one of the most important actions in my eyes, for my future hubby to have. I feel chivalry just takes that connection to a whole other level. Thank you :).

if it is not it is soon to be so,since I and many donot see it as respect when it is only one sided-their side.
I mean where is their respect for us?
Do they care about what we would like to do/buy? NOPE just what they want us to buy for them,or a place/event they want us to provide for them.
At the end of the day so to speak we have become servants,if not all out worshipers of the female-because its the status quo-chivalry. Give me a break!
