We are throwing a shower for a mom to be who lives across the country. She cant fly home with bulky gifts. Is there a polite way to ask the guests (on the invitation) to give money or gift cards instead?

Is chivalry dead? I know i was brought up to show chivalry to women, but it seems that they end up abusing it and taking advantage of me.

We are all for diversity here in our, well club. We come up with ways to diversify and eduacate our campus, thats our purpose. But this lady is treating our diverse members like a Disney Land attraction. "Can I touch your hair?" "Do you eat rice for every meal?" "Can you tecah me your Latin style dance?" ( who said I dance?) She feels she is the epitome of tolerance though, but she makes us all feel like zoo creatures! What to do?

I know there is a special term for it. I don't think bereavement fits. Any suggestions?

So, I've been living in my house for about 5 months now and maybe 3-4 times a week I wake up at 6:30am to the two dogs across the street barking incessantly. They are only out for about 30 minutes, but I never get back to sleep after they wake me up, and waking up angry sucks. I don't know what to do! Should I send an anonomous note? Go over and talk to them myself? Let it go and go to bed earlier? Please help!!! I've never owned a dog, so I don't know what it's like.

I am a health conscious person I eat right and exercise, my main activity is jogging. I jog about 5 miles a day. Since it has been getting cooler I need a little extra insulation to keep me warm. I don’t wear a sweat suit because they make me chaff, so I thought I would try leg and thigh warmers. Yeah, these things are great, they go all the up to my crotch so I am toasty warm when running. The only problem is my bean bag is hanging out and not able to keep warm enough. Although it accentuates my bag (and I enjoy the looks I get), my sack does get cold and they make me feel fat. They don’t really make these things for men so the only non feminine color I could find was bright red. But I am cool with that. My bag chaffs like crazy, any suggestions?

I do not mean to the kids.

I live in Tempe, AZ and most of the trick-or-treaters are college aged women.

If you normally drop your cigarette ends on the floor when finished are you the type of person who would do he same with a crisp packet or an empty coke can etc?
I'm guessing that most of you wouldn't dream of dropping litter in the streets, but if its 'only' a cigarette butt it doesn't count?

In places where it is legal or tolerated, women generally enjoy a higher status in society and aggressive male pimping is almost non-existent (think Thailand). In societies where it is shunned, women generally are regarded with lower status and easily fall victim to the mafia (think U.S.). Is that just coincidence?

Last weeked my friend asked me to go to a party with her. I went, but when we got there she went and spoke to everyone else except me. I don't mind this cos I am sociable too and got chatting to others but it did bother me that she begged me to go with her only to ditch me. Should I raise the issue or let it go?

My wife went back to school this year. She made it clear well in advance that the second week of October was a terrible week for her, as she was writing mid-terms. She really does have a busy day; when she's not at school, she cares for our son while I'm at work, and somewhere in there, she studies. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law were determined that last Saturday would be the day for a baby shower, even though the baby isn't due until December. They rented a big hall, invited lots of people, so there was lots of work to be done. My wife had no say. She suggested they put it off a week so she could help, but they insisted it would be that week.

The problem is, my mother-in-law kept pressuring her to help out with the baby shower. My wife respectfully declined. Now my mother-in-law, along with others who helped out with the party, are resentful that my wife did not help.

Did my wife have a moral obligation to help out, or are my in-laws being unreasonable?

My husband and I were walking through the local farmer's market, where they also have various other vendors. I'm thinnish, but have a bit of a gut. A woman came running up to me saying that her company gives massages to pregnant women too! Except that I'm not pregnant, and we decided not to have kids!

This is not the first time I've gotten that. Why do people have the gall to just assume?? And what's the best way to reply?
