2 problems with telling the truth:
The person telling you may only be saying their OPINION - not a fact. Their view is clouded by emotions and may only be based on a small part of the "truth". Half truths are worse than keeping quiet.
The person hearing the "truth" puts their own twist on it. For example; There is no right answer to "Am I getting Fat?". An honest answer is seen as "You don't love me any more..." which has nothing to do with the "truth" just told.
Just as opinions told are influenced by emotions, so are answers to the listener's ears.
Truth and Emotions are different, but influence each other SOOOooooo much

Yes, I think so. At first it might be a little scary, hurtful perhaps, but we'd get used to the bluntness of reality. Lies are there to make us feel better, but they harm in the end. If everyone told the truth the honesty throughout the world would have a huge effect. No more fraud, no more trials, no more great relationships ended because of a lack of communication. I think it would be great.

I would rather not. I appreciate the white lies that are told to me each day and the ones I deliver.
I don't want my dear husband to tell me I'm fat, the receptionist at the dental office telling me my hair makes me look like an 80s throwback, my employees telling me they hate me and the guy at BK that my whopper jr. is going to up my cholesterol and maybe I should get the salad.
I appreciate a little politeness in society.
That is not to say serious matters such as who my baby's father is, have I been cheating on my husband, my income to the IRS or say how the local congressman spent my tax dollars. . .not really a place for lies or lies by omission.
How do you tell the difference between a white lie and really serious deception? It is kindof like what the Supreme Court once said about defining pornography, you know it when you see it.

It's best to be truthful as much as possible. I'm honest even if it might hurt someones feelings, I just try to be really tactful. Some times, though, people are just nosy. If something is none of their business, I make up some (usually outrageous) story just to make them go away. I respect the same in all relationships too. The only friendships that have stood the test of time with me are the ones based on honesty. If you really want to know if an outfit makes your butt look huge, we're the ones to ask!

The ideal world is a world where there are no false statements and/or testimonies. The perfect world is a world where every body tell the truth and the will of God is the will of every single human.

I think I will live in a better place if everyone around me just spoke in plain truth.
But unfortunately, this world is not ready for truth. So no, usually being truthful just makes you public enemy no. 1.
Successful people lie and never get caught lying.

lol....thats funny. Ever heard the term . "The Truth Hurts". %90 of people could not handle everyone being truthfull with them. Also, just because we would tell the truth, it doesnt mean we would stop doing things we normally lied about.

Can you imagine the uproar that would be caused if every husband answered what they truly thought when their wives asked, "Does this make me look fat". Some lies still need to be lies. Some people just can't handle the truth.
