Tell the boss that the rest of you have problems doing your work because of it. He/she is the one who should handle the problem.

Talk to her. This might seems extreme and beside the point, but it can infact be the best way to shut her up - for good.

Emotionally she may be trying to say something else. The talking being a way to instigate the conversation/topic of her choice. The talking might help her say what she wants to say and that's it!

Socially she may be a 'social hermit', not much talking at home so let's talk at work. In this case just TELL HER. This method sounds more dangerous than it is. Just tell the woman to "shut the f up you punk a** b***h" (or use your own words if you wish). In other words - say what needs to be said instead of blaming her for something she's never been told about. Remeber though, telling her and being rude to her are two diffrent things

If this is too much to dish out, then try the Psychological approach - also know as the famous "reverse psychology". Make her talk. Not only that but you talk too. Talk so much she won't know what to say, ergo - she's quiet!

If all three fail (social, emotional, psychological) then you're on your own kid.

Perhaps she thinks y'all are joking with her about stabbing her with scissors and she's under the impression that what she's doing is acceptable or welcome. Try telling her that you have a lot of work to do and you can't talk because it distracts you. Then proceed to do your work and ignore her. If she gets this from everyone, maybe she'll tone it down. If that doesn't work, maybe you can mention it to the supervisor so they can have a talk with her.

I think ignoring her will stop her chattering away, but has anyone actually tried telling her to stop talking? Maybe shes a bit slow and doesnt get that shes supposed to be quiet at work.

Failing that.....everytime she talks, put your fingers in your ears and sing 'lalala Im not listening!!!!!!!!!!!' Am such a child lol!

Ask her if she realizes how annoying she is..., or say "I know let's see how long ___________ can keep her mouth shut for", and actually start timing her. She'll be so shocked that you asked her such a rude question that she'll get the point of what your trying to say. Plus it will bring a little humor to the room as well as the situation.

Tell her you love her and want her babies. Be overly nice to her at every oppurtunity and send her love letters and emails. be constantly be in her face. follow her to lunch, try hugging her. if you ever go out on a company knees up be all over her. Try not to get the sack doing it though. That will shut her up eventually or at least stop her talking around you!

Explain to your supervisor that her incessent talking prevents everyone from doing their work.

(I know a couple of other people have said this, but I felt I had to, given the disgusting answers most people have been giving.)

Since you are paid to work, the supervisor is motivated to deal with her. That's the supervisor's job.

Well, do like what i did before. Look at her in the eyes when she starts talking. Do not nod to her words, do not humm or even reply to her. When she stared back to you in your eyes, she will actually realise you are not interested and just stops talking. Its a psychological method really.
