Etiquette - August 2006

I understand why people whisper in libraries, but why whisper in a doctors surgery? I know people talk at normal volume in hospitals.

Any ideas?

I am married and have 2 children and another on the way- mid 30s. My close friend from growing up is single and unattached. She has been very generous for all of the occasions in my life- engagement, wedding, birth of children, children's birthdays, christmas, chanukah & valentine gifts for my kids- the list goes on and on. She ain't exactly rich- she's just very thoughtful, very giving and a great friend. So the problem is, we never get to reciprocate. For a long time we just figured that she would settle down and we'd get our chance to celebrate her milestones- but as it seems less and less likely we need a new plan. What can we do that express our gratitude for her friendship and generosity, without shining a light on the fact that she doesn't have some of the things in her life to celebrate that she wants? My wife and I are at a total loss- any ideas?

I got a violation for putting a question mark instead of a period and this man asked a question about how he should beat his wife. Now that is just *ucked up. I gotta say they are really anal retentive or they have small ***** and want to compensate by playing stupid violation man.

I have to be at work at 9:15 a.m for my new job of shoveling out the elephant stalls..grueling work for a beautiful man i know...but i work up at 8:25 and it takes me 20 min to get there and plus making this question..I cannot be late for my first day..So here is the lowdown...I have not taken a shower in 3 days Ive been getting around it by covering up..But i wanted to shower today..So basically i caked my pits with my wife's secret deorderant..in an attempt to retard my man smells..Can I last for 8 hours on just a pitfull of secret dedorant?

Yeah so the boss messed up Antwan real good and word around that campfire is that it was because he had given the boss's wife a foot massage.

So the boss sent a couple of guys over his place. They took him out on the patio of his apartment, threw him over the balcony. Antwan fell four stories. They had this garden at the bottom, enclosed in glass, like one of them greenhouses --he fell through that. Since then, he's kind of developed a speech impediment.

Do you think the boss over-reacted or should Antwan have figued that if he played with matches he would get burned?

It's only about 8 hours old, and the local billiards store laughed and hung up on me thinking it was a prank call. I would prefer it not even being noticable, and perferably cheap. I need to get it cleaned within the next day or two so the owners of the house won't know what happened while I was taking care of it for them while they where on vacation. A related question, how do you tell a lady she was just a one night stand?

why do people add details to their questions and complain about some of the answers?

for example if they get an answer they dont like they hit 'add details' and then say something like "HAHA FUNNY ANSWERS EVERYONE!! EXCEPT FOR JOHNNY I DONT LIKE U >=[ GET A SENSE OF HUMOR"

or "HEY PROFESSOR I DONT LIKE U UR A LOSER! UR MOM IS UGLY"

honestly, is it because theyre so offended by the answers that they have to lash out or is it because theyre simply crazy

Maybe it's just me, but when I read a post written like this:

"Donchu hateit wen pepl dont know how 2 punkshuate or spel i relly hate dat"

I want to reach my hand across my virtual connection and smack them upside the head.
I mean, some people are better than others in this area. Still, in my opinion if you can't take the time to google a word for its proper spelling, then what you have to say must not be very important.

I immediately lose respect for the writer and his post when he or she can't take the time to formulate their thoughts in a logical manner that will make sense to the reader. And if you are going to post on a religious, political, or other intellectual topic, I think it's doubly important to get it right.

Is any1 with me on this?

A couple of days ago I was swimming (topless, as always) in my pool. When I finished I took off my bikini bottom with the intention of wrapping a towel around me and hanging it up to dry. Just as I took it off, a male friend of mine walked around the back of the house (having let himself in). I said hello while I finished wrapping the towel around me, but he got a good look (which didn't really worry me, and I didn't really react). But he was really embarrassed and apologetic, and claimed that the only way to make up for it was to let me see him naked. So he proceeded to take off his clothes. I said he didn't have to but he did, and we stood there for a few secs - him nude and me with a towel around me (covering my boobs and my lower half). Then he just got dressed and we went inside, I got dressed (out of sight of him) and then we hung out. There was no suggestion that anything else would or should happen. Just I saw him bc he saw me. Do you think he did the right thing?

Im going to my brother in laws wedding next month (we arent in the wedding at all) and I know that women arent supposed to wear white because it will compete with the bride. Does this just apply to dresses? I was thinking I would wear white pants and a white tank top, with a see through black long sleeve shirt...thing...over it. Is this to much white? I dont do dresses or dressing up so this was as nice as I could come up with =)

I HATE it when some people bring their babies and little children (age 5 and under, that is) to the movies with them? I HATE THAT!!!!!! Babies cryin' and other little children talking and making a whole bunch of noise while other people are enjoying the movie! Can't they hire a babysitter or something? If they can't afford to hire one, can't they AT LEAST find any relatives that can watch the kids while the parents go to the movies so that EVERY ONE can have a pleasant experience at the movies? BTW, I DO NOT hate children! I just hate it when they bring their kids to the movies knowing that they are going to make a bunch of noise! IT'S IRRITATING!!!!!!!!!
