Maybe it's just me, but when I read a post written like this:

"Donchu hateit wen pepl dont know how 2 punkshuate or spel i relly hate dat"

I want to reach my hand across my virtual connection and smack them upside the head.
I mean, some people are better than others in this area. Still, in my opinion if you can't take the time to google a word for its proper spelling, then what you have to say must not be very important.

I immediately lose respect for the writer and his post when he or she can't take the time to formulate their thoughts in a logical manner that will make sense to the reader. And if you are going to post on a religious, political, or other intellectual topic, I think it's doubly important to get it right.

Is any1 with me on this?

No one cares. You are all alone in your conceit. You are a one-man army of grammatical aptitude.

This bothers me, too, as they have a spell check feature to utilize directly on the site. If they did NOT have one on the site, I would not get annoyed. Some people are good at some things, some are better at others. You may have better grammar than others, but have absolutely no mechanical skill, or no artistic ability. Everyone has their gifts, so I don't get hung up on it. The spelling will really bother me when I can not even infer the question from what they have attempted to write. They do themselves a injustice by not taking advantage of spell check.

Poor grammar and spelling don't bother me. My husband is a terrible speller, yet he's one of the most intelligent people I know. (Thank God he doesn't write much!) The way I look at it is--those people are harming noone but themselves. Really all they're doing is making themselves look like lazy, ignorant slobs who won't be taken seriously in life.

What I ABHOR is the abbreviating. U for you; dat for that; ne1 for anyone, etc. That's just sheer laziness on the part of the typist, and as with the spelling and grammar, those people are hurting nobody but themselves. I've gotten to the point anymore that when I come across a question like that, I don't even read it--I keep on moving to the next one.

Shouldn't Do spellttt as Does? It bugs me if some1 writes like dis in an assgnmnt. But if I'm txtin in my cellphn, u have 2 discvr new ways 2 pack words as u have only 150 words/msg.

Whats up w/u and punktuashn and Gramma. This is not english grammar class. If you were to be proper why don't you spell color as colour?

Language evolves/changes. Change is da way of life, change with it, and don't resist. Have fun, live/love life.

Completely agree with you. I mean, what is so "cool" about writing...:

wat=what
dat=that
becauz=because
loose=lose
kool=cool

Etc...

Even putting "i" instead of "I" drives me insane! Not to be too extreme, but do people have to show how uneducated/lazy/bored they are? It's ridiculous. And very annoying when trying to comprehend such gibberish... oh, and I would also add it's pathetic. Some say it's just to have "fun", but I would say there are far more entertaining things to do, right?

Tank you 4 reeding... relly. ;)

Thank the overpaid, cry baby public school teachers for this. They are worthless

Now, after June, July, and August off, the crybaby teachers will return to school and start using sick days, vacation days, etc. and start complaining that they are over worked and underpaid and need more $$$$ or they will go on strike and hold our kids education hostage. FIRE THEM ALL! Do away with the teachers union, and hire all new non union teachers.

Totally with you.
And they seem to be the ones
who complaint most about
non-English speakers.
Quite ironic, wouldn't you say.

It's getting to the point that I
simply skip a lot of questions
that could turn out to be very
interesting, as I do not have the
stomach nor time to try and
translate (figure out sound more
apropos) what they are trying to
say.

It seems that 'instant gratification'
is enveloping our language as well.

How very sad, and who will do
something about it?

I can't say I lose all respect- unless its mis-spelled AND asking about some bodily function in a strange situation.

I am in agreement with you that poor spelling and erroneous grammar are frustrating; I spend a lot of time attempting to understand the question asked. I am more put out by the obviously rude questions put forth for only prurient interests.

The simple answer for me is yes. I can't say that I lose respect for people, but, I'm just a fan of being proper. Glad to see I'm not the only one.

Does bad grammar and atrocious misspelling annoy anyone else here?

Not that I'm a grammar freak, but If you're going to complain make sure your grammar is correct.
