Breastfeeding is not an embarrassing sexual deviance, ever, at any time. It's the way babies have been fed since the dawn of time
However, breasts are sexy too, especially nice ones. I can see someone getting excited about the idea of seeing them. When I breastfed, I tried to sit in a bookstore and breastfeed, or a restaurant and breastfed but men literally brought chairs over and sat down in front of me or kept walking by and eyeballing me, so I decided to feed in the restroom or the car whenever I was in public. I guess it's because I'm blond and attractive with large breasts, but I don't know. Maybe they do that with everyone.
Did it bother me? Not really. Was I embarrassed? No. Do I consider it a sexual deviance? LOL, no. Not even if the father is doing it! As far as "sexual deviances" go, sucking on breasts is pretty boring stuff. I feel sorry for anyone who considers something that tame to be a deviance - you have a lot to learn (and to do!)

Definately a nurturing act. Why should someone be put off doing something that is completely natural. I think so long as you have a bit of dignity and cover the breast so that it is not fully exposed there is nothing wrong with it.
I know some people get offended by it but the times are changing. I don't think there's any sexual deviance to it unless it's your husband/boyfriend having a go at it hehe.

How about "neither one, exactly"?
Exposed breasts are not universally considered to be sexual. That opinion seems to be mostly a U.S. hangup.
Anyway, breast feeding CAN be done discretely. A woman who doesn't is trying to prove something to someone (as in "she's probably a militant 'lactivist' or something"), or she's an exhibitionist (and exhibitionisism most certainly IS a form of sexual deviance).
In any case, babies need to get fed, and if the babies are outside of their homes, then they're going to be fed out in public, one way or another--in a restroom or in a restaurant, by a bottle or by a breast. It's a necessity. And, as such, even though it may be done in a loving manner, I wouldn't go so far as to romanticize every act of breastfeeding as a "nurturing act of maternal love."
Breasts (of all ages, lactating or not) need not be "embarrassing"--that notion is purely a cultural hangup, IMNSHO. If we all bathed topless here--the way that many women do in Europe, NO ONE would be embarrassed by breasts, and few would continue to consider them to be such powerfully-compelling sex objects.

It's a cultural difference between what someone people know and believe to be appropriate and what other people know and believe to be appropriate. As for sexual deviance: You have no children, nor have you ever breastfed. Next you'll be saying the giving birth is sexual deviance, or wiping your rear after using the bathroom is sexually deviant. You really need to get in touch with yourself. The only way you can be excused for even asking this question is if you are <14 years old or something.

The majority of women who breastfeed do so discreetly. It is certainly an act of maternal love, but even more simply, they are merely feeding their child! People need to grow up! If someone bares a breast on the front of a magazine (because they generally reveal more of the breast on Cosmo than does a woman who breastfeeds!) no one thinks anything of it. Americans are very immature this way. Women should never be discouraged from breastfeeding, and I think many women who are against it are those that were too selfish to breastfeed, and don't want to be reminded of what they didn't do for their child as a parent. Just my humble opinion...

A nurturing act of maternal love. There is nothing sexual about it.
When are people going to stop feeling offended at the sight of the female body?

Its not a sexual act to feed your baby. It would be an embarrassing sexual deviance if it was your husband sucking them in public. Theres a BIG difference.

There is nothing sexual about breast feeding. If anyone sees it as sexual, they are indeed deviant and need to seek immediate psychological help. As for the woman that says she is mature but seeing breast feeding makes her want to puke, she may be mature, but i would think certainly not a mentally healthy individual. I am left wondering if she preferred babies went hungry or that all "dirty" breast feeding mother's curled up at home and died?
Breast feeding can be painful and difficult. Mothers that do it are doing it because it is the healthiest thing for their babies. There are not ENOUGH good caring mothers in the world these days, and it shows in how the world seems to be getting worse.
I say bravo to all the mothers putting their children first for a change!
And I, personally prefer a little discretion in public, but it is the woman's choice. If her baby is hungry, she needs to feed her/him. That's all there is to it!

I nursed every one of my babies in public. And.... you'd never have known I was doing anything but holding them close.
A woman doesn't have to take her blose half off to feed her baby. When she does, she's being rude to everyone in the area. If she doesn't know how to feed the baby w/out getting undressed, I'm sure she has something along the lines of a recieving blanket nearby to put over the baby/breast combination. That's what I had to do until I figured the whole thing out.

embarrassing sexual deviance?
F you
for even saying that
I hardly did it in public... I stayed home and its the most wonderful accomplishment. I love my son. I sat home and breastfeed for 11 months. I was always leaking and tired.. believe me I didn't want to be in public. If and when I had to go out I went out of my way to be private about it using baby blankets and the proper blouse and bra. I wasn't all "national geographic" about it
But breastfeeding is the most beautiful loving unselfish motherly thing to do. Its so good for the babies.
dont ever disrespect breastfeeding again and when u have a kid encourage your lady to breastfeed..
