Sampson had super-strength. Why didn't Jesus? He had all kinds of other powers: walking on water, turning water into wine, healing the sick/lame.

No religion or spiritual belief system has provided me with a credible explanation of why a God/Creator would allow: Starvation, the destruction of Africa, AIDS, murder?

Is there a credible explanation for death, AIDS, racism, etc? If so, how would a loving God/Creator allow such pain, suffering?

O.k. here's the scoop, give or take, some truth here and there. I was at the grocery store, the clerk, appeared to be acting passive-aggressively towards me. I swear, i heard him swear at me under his breath. He finally 'helped' me, after his passive-aggressive monalougue and walked me to where I needed to go...as I turned to leave...he mutttered something else, under his breath. To which I replied:

"Thank You, in a passive-aggresive sorta way"....

Was this wrong to say, after all he fired first....? What and why and how could of I done it any differently? I needed the stuff, so I couldn't leave, makeing a scene would of escalated the situation, yet I'm also tired of turning the other cheek.

Considering what I went thru and the emotion involved I believe I stood up for myself, very diplomatically. Anyone else....Realize I may report you for no reason, I am still seething at the mouth! Lol???.....!!!?????

No, really, I'm fine now; no need to call anyone.

What is the name of some good books about Astro-Theology?

If you don't about this subject, Astro-Theology, or solar worship, is the basis of all present-day religious beliefs -- Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddaism.

Indeed, why do People of Faith try to justify their holy scriptures with science?

God is greater than His creation.

Why do the people imagine a vain thing?

Again, I'm in the forgive and forget argument with a spouse.

Thanks.

I understand that some of the commandments atheists do not use (the whole God part) but its to my understanding that atheists dont go running around killing people, or stealing, or stealing wives- correct? I would say atleast 6 of the ten are common morals.

A small few, but still some, atheists are so against believers believing in the commandments- well why? If most humans follow atleast half?

Im not sure if any of you can speak for them, but maybe help me to understand?

that he lives at the North Pole and flies around the world delivering toys to all the good little boys and girls on Christmas night, why don't Christians believe the stories, as opposed to the verifiable evidence?

After all, they believe that a man named Yeshua is really "Jesus" and lives in Heaven, protecting his followers from going to Hell when they die, as long as they accept him as their personal lord and savior before they kick the bucket.

How can they totally disregard one story as fiction BECAUSE of the verifiable evidence about that person's existence, yet believe another story DESPITE the verifiable evidence (or should I say, lack thereof) for that person's existence?

A.) A Christian group that will treat you but has the additional agenda of witnessing to you and perhaps lecture you about abstinence and deny you access to condoms and sex ed - even if you're being treated for something else

or

B.) The secular group called Doctors Without Borders who inject who do not inject religion into medical treatment and and give care and base their ethics only on current science/medicine and what is proven to be best for the patient, regardless of the doctors' or patients' religious beliefs

Cop With a Collar

A young clergyman, fresh out of seminary, thought it would help him better understand the fears and temptations his future congregations faced if he first took a job as a policeman for several months. He passed the physical examination; then came the oral exam to test his ability to act quickly and wisely in an emergency. Among other questions he was asked, “What would you do to disperse a frenzied crowd?”

He thought for a moment and then said, “I would take up a collection.”

To my fellow Atheists: Stay out of this one. If i want to see a "your stupid, no your stupid" thread i can hit the back button and a bunch.

To R&S Christian population - Simple, non-controversial, no hidden agenda attached question.

The objection generally raised against arguments from design can often be summed up in the question "Who designed the designer?"

I've always wanted to know what the response to that question would be - except usually such discussions usually degenerate into well, the mess we usually see.

So here's your shot, i'm your audience, and the stage is yours.

What is the response to "Who designed the designer?"

Matthew 27:46 (KJV)
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Considering the circumstances do you think this cry is understandable? Do you really think it means the Father, as described in Luke 15, always looking for his son, would turn his back on his son on the cross to fulfill a theological position that God can't look upon sin?

Maybe it just really, really sucked to be Jesus at that moment and he FELT abandoned? Is this unreasonable? Then we don't have to make the Father out to be such a Richard Cranium?

Matthew 6: 5-6
5And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites [are]: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 6But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. (KJV)

Dont worry, I wasnt raped. I'm just curious to know what others would do in this situation. If you were raped and became pregnant, would you keep the child? I've thought about this before because it's happening more and more. Please be serious and explain your answer

I think that I would. Although the child would have his eyes or something that reminded me of him, I would feel awful because it couldnt help that it came into the world that way. I believe something good can from a horrible experience.

Note: Personally I'm against abortion and am not religious, please dont slam Christianity or anyone else's beliefs though. Thanks.

My sister's kids are in 6th and 4th grade. They really wanted iPods for xmas, and my sister is a single parent with not a lot of $, so I bought them iPod nanos, thinking they'd really like them. They did not say "thanks" and the 6th grader berated me for not giving it to her before xmas, so she would have had something to do in the car on the way to my house.
Next they went skating on the pond in my backyard, tracked snow all over the house, sat their sopping wet selves down on my new leather furniture and removed the DVD my hubby and I were watching from the DVD player because they wanted to watch something else. I asked them to either change clothes or sit on the floor so they didn't ruin my furniture, they just talk back to me, it turned to an argument.
After that, I find my nephew putting my boots on to go back outside. I insisted he wear his own boots, he insisted on wearing mine! More arguing. Should I lighten up, or am I right in thinking they are so disrespectful to me?

Is fanatical support to one's own religion more important than tolerance for other religions?

Is Religion more important than science - even if it is proved wrong time and again?

Should Scientific advancements be stopped for the sake of following religion? OR should religion be stopped for the sake of Science?

Does God speak in our heart - or via religious books interpreted for us by some religious-head.
