I grew up Christian, but changed to the Wiccan religion (christian-wiccan actually). In my experience, Christianity itself (and some other similar religions) make God out to be selfish and opinionated. "Do it my way or go to hell" is the impression that's given. And I also get the impression of "live life my way or go to hell".

I happen to think God is more open minded and libral than we give him credit for. I practice witchcraft. The Bible says that's the devil, but there is no devil in the craft. The Bible was written by man, not God, even though the men who right it state that "God spoke through me". Um, sure. Wouldn't make more sence that God would want us to live our lives in a way that would make us feel comfortable when worshiping him? For instance, I worship the Lord in nature, because he created it. What are your thoughts? I'm just curious to see the answers, not looking for an answer regarding my own beliefs. I like a good debate.

First, please define what you mean by "listening with your heart."
(The phrase has also been stated that you should "listen TO your heart," or alternatively, "listen FROM your heart.")

Along with the positive and/or negative results that can arise, also please state your faith/non-faith tradition.

Or would the divinity of Jesus be able to work without the resurrection story??

He came into the world of a virgin birth so it doesn't make sense that the story's writers would have him go out in a less glorius way.

What if you heard that an ameican high school graduate was starting her "year on" (any Dan Eldon fans? no? sigh) and needed a little bit of help just to get her started. I'm going to be an author but I honestly dont think I can writing anything thats not self indulgant or purely masterbutory without some actual life to write about. I'm stating in late June where I'm leaving a school trip in Italy. I need someone who recodnizes the importance of this and can give me a bit of help. If no one contacts me I'll probably end up just sleeping on a park bench but thats fine too. Actualy, if anyone has done anything like this befor it would be amazing if you could contact me too... some good advice might be nice. ^_^

Mine was my first child. A precious baby girl named Morey Alexis Noelle Springuel, that was born on December 22nd, 2007. She is sleeping next to me right now, and she looks like a little angel. She is so perfect, and I couldn't have asked for a better Christmas. So my question is, what was your best Christmas present this year. It doesn't have to be a material thing, like a movie or book. It can be anything, like a hug or a kind word.

If so, are they punishment for unpure thoughts? Wouldn't you be attempting to thwart the will of God by taking aspirin?

If not, are they the result of a cause and effect relationship within your body? If so, couldn't a feeling like the one people get from church also be a cause and effect relationship within their bodies?

John 1:47-49, "Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile! Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I SAW THEE. Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel."

Jesus was the Word made flesh, and I can't help but believe that Nathanael was praying to His God under that fig tree, and His God "saw" him. I also believe that Nathanael knew that God had heard him, and that is the reason for his reaction.

Do any of you have any thoughts on this?

was actually a crimminal offense in some places (by the Puritans) before that to celebreate it. And I remember my great grand aunt telling me as a child that they never had X-Mas when she was a kid either; it was just another day. WHY do you think the US congress started it by law in 1870?

I've come to the conclusion that the hassle of Xmas is not worth it. I'm only going to concentrate on doing things for the children in our extended family and ditch the traditional B.S. stuff. No more travelling, trees, etc...........It causes too much stress for everyone, even throws the kids schedule off making them very miserable. I don't know who benefits from any of this, as the tradition is a MAJOR CHORE for everyone now....and is looked forward to with dread. Are you with me?

God, a perfect being, created humans who are imperfect
Imperfect humans chose to rebel against their creator
The creator doesn't like this so he decided that humans should go to hell
But god is a nice guy so he was born into physical form to pay the penalty for man's disobedience
You only get your "get out of hell free" card if you believe the story about god becoming human and dying for your "sins"
