Bravo sister! Seems like you have hit the target in the center with your smart, short, and thoughtful question.

I wish to add, put all the words in Sahkespar's complete works in a printshop and ad the Big Bang. Waht would you get as a result?

Indeed, and what compiled the stuff that god is made of? ;-)

There are plenty of Christians that believe in the big bang theory, and plenty of Atheists that don't.

Essentially what you are asking is, what caused the big bang. IOW in order for some*thing* to blow up, some *thing* needs to exist to blow up.

The big bang is a theory meant to explain one possible way in which this universe may have been made. But the universe may not represent the sum whole of all that exists.

This is a good question though, right up there with ... who or what made god. :-)

I agree with Markyyy, it was Thor.

In all seriousness though, study some quantum physics and the topic of infinity. Matter and energy beeps in and out of existence all the time on the quantum level. It wouldn't have taken much to trigger a "big bang".

Its funny the don't give a straight answer or explain it. Probably because they have no idea. So they jump to say the universe is eternal, which is impossible. If it was always here there wouldn't be enough time for it to progress to today. We would be stuck in infinity BC.

Do you have any idea how stupid this question is?

NOT ALL ATHEISTS SUPPORT THE BIG BANG! Stop asking US and ask a cosmologist, okay?

But the answer is NO ONE. That kind of goes along with the whole "not believing in any deity." Ugh...

The universe was not created. The ingredients, if you will, for the universe have always existed and will always exist.

Taco Bell employees.

It wasn't really a big bang though, it was more of a drawn out growl with lingering aftershocks.

Energy and matter have always existed in one form or another.

If something created everything, something also much have created the creator, etc. Can't exempt your god just because you CLAIM it's a special exception.

This just leads to the old cliche of "Okay, if it was God/Allah/whatever, where did God/Allah/Whatever come from?"

People much smarter than you or I are working on how the universe began as we speak, and whatever they come up with I can guarantee there will never be found an explanation that is satisfactory to all.
