What would you say is tall/average/short height for a grown man in America?
(Ex. Tall: 5'11" and above; average height: 5'6"-5'10"; short: below 5'6").

-The average height for an America male is 5'10" So anything above this average would be considered tall while anything below this average would be considered short-

Your example is good. It depends on the persons genes.
I know a guy who is 6'9" tall. that is a bit too tall because most things are to low for his head.

Tall: 6' and over.
Average: 5'7 to 5'11
Short: 5'6 and under.
For women
Tall: 5'8 and over.
Average: 5'5 to 5'7
Short: 5'4 and under.

5'11" for males in the US is considered tall
the tallest man I have met is Peter Steele at 6'7"
that makes me about waist high... perfect huh?
