If you are a former Christian, what made you decide to leave Christianity?

I left Christianity because of a contradiction I seen in the Bible.

Be very honest no one really knows what Islam is except for what they hear on t.v. So if by example no offense if you found out it was a amazing religion would you consider.

I have people from various beliefs in my contact list. I add people that seem to listen with their hearts, intellectual and/or generally thought provoking. It is most disappointing when one of them gets deleted as I lose track of their thoughts.

Can't we just overlook those that we find abrasive and quit reporting folks that simply don't adhere to our own beliefs? Having someone deleted effects more than that one person. I don't know of any religion, philosophy, science or other system of thought that encourages us to close ourselves off to communication and personal growth through study.

I enjoy a bit of humor here to lighten things up but I am primarily here to listen and learn. Shutting down individual voices narrows resources. Beyond that it hurts people.

Now I realize that atheists often argue with logical fallacies, but I thought for sure they would never try to argue theology with semantics.

Shows are naive I was!

2 part question, first off, (I'm not 100% sure how to reference the bible) Matthew 6:9-13 states that god says there is a specific way, word for word, we are supposed to pray as Christians right? Is that not literal? I know catholics say the same prayer, every single person, the whole "die before I wake thing". Or does that section refer metaphorically as an example of the things we should be praying for?

Second, assuming it is an example, not literal directions word for word, then does Matthew 7:7-8 mean that we can each individualize our prayers to ask for what we need based on the criteria of Matthew 6:9-13? If so, where are we supposed to draw the line? For instance, if every single night, in addition to praying for the continued health of my friends and family, I also pray that I may be able to have a family myself one day, is that sacrilegious?

... of like eleven or twelve, give or take a couple of years, would you still be able to appreciate the beauty that drew you closer, or would you walk away disgusted with yourself? Did your eyes really decieve you if the girl is truly gorgeous? Do you think this makes you a pedophile if you still admit she's
a hottie?

This year, my husband and I only bought gifts for our immediate family. But, when we spent Christmas day with all of his extended family, we received gifts from them. (We had nothing to give in return, and I have to say, I felt rather jerk-ish!) Should we put some gifts in the mail and call it "Merry New Year" or just let it go? The reason we did not buy for EVERYONE is because we both felt the gift thing can get really out of control, and sort of didn't want to deal with it this year. Plus, we recently put out a large sum of money on some purchases for our home. So, I need some opinions. And please, no lectures about the choices we made, just thoughts about what we could/should do now. ;-)

Recently, I have been thinkin about going to a Lutheran church. I have always went to Baptist and I am really not sure what the differences are between these. Can someone please give me a little insight.

P.S. This is a serious question...please no silly answers from atheists or satan worshippers or anything like that. :)

if the prevalence of prostitutes is inevitable and people wanting the right to choose the day of their passing, is a feeling growing in strength amongst the general population......
why should the law of the land on these two topics, be swayed or warped by the BELIEFS that the religious among us hold about marriage&sex...and about the part an imaginary being did/or didnt play in our [supposed] creation, and therefore about our right to make our own decisions about the ending of our lives?

do the religiously righteous have the right to make the non religious among us suffer--
[ deteriorating sexual health in the case of prostitutes driven underground...and pain&loss of dignity in the case of those who are terminally ill or whose quality of life is no longer acceptable to them] just so their prejudices and opinions can be upheld and receive the validation of the law?

My girlfriend I have played around with me wearing lingerie and girl's clothes for some time now. We both find it exciting. She has taken me shopping and has helped me buy feminine things to wear, and I even wear wigs and make-up, and go out with her as a girl sometimes. I have really come to love doing this and we have talked about other outfits I would like to get to wear for her. We have discussed Hooker-look clothes, Maid's uniforms, Bridal Gowns, Harem girl costumes, and cheerleader costumes. Does anyone have any good suggestions for something sexy that I could get to suprise her and get the juices flowing?

Was is Fantabulous?

They asked if he was the Messiah and Jesus said "You say I am" So my two questions
1. Was Jesus reffering to the many times he did his miracles in front of them in which they would say blasphemy? ( Implications that he was doing only things God would do in the temple and since God was supposidely dwelling in the temple(according to Jewish belief) he had no right to do what he was doing, ignoring the fact that he was doing the same things? And
2.Was Jesus being charged for all the healings that would have gone on in the temple? or was he being judged for one instance. In other words did the Priests try to build a case against him or just try to charge him for proclaiming himself as Christ? I guess what I am trying to figure out is how did the priest claim he was the Christ in the trial or before?

Hello.

In Y/A, I've met newly converted Muslims and read the stories of many who left their previous faith to embrace Islam. Each story had its own beauty and how the person came to be enlightened by this religion.

Then I wondered what are the stories of those who are no longer Muslims and are faithfuls of a different religion. So what is your story of how you came to be a follower of another religion? What thoughts had you leave Islam and become a Christian, Atheist, Jewish, Buddhist, etc.?

Please don't take this question as a way to insult those who were Muslim before...I am, in absolutely NO way, trying to offend you and make you feel bad because of your decisions. I have respect for people of all religions....People with differences in their faith, languages, culture, and religion is what makes the world so amazing. I merely want to know what caused you to leave Islam for another faith. Again, I am not trying to offend any of you.

Peace.
