Yes, thats why my kids know that there is no such thing as Santa. We have no one to blame but ourselves since we practically lie to our kids at a young age until they are old enough to know better. How tramatizing for kids to think "mom and dad has been lying to us for years...what else are they lying about?" lol But all jokes aside, Christmas is way too commercial. It's all about the almighty dollar.

Yes, it is true, but still it depends on the country, in my country and also the neighboring states, Jesus it the main person, even in the non-religious families. Here Santa doesn´t bring the gifts but baby Jesus does. Anyway all this Santa stuff, is here mainly because of commercials. At the beginning coca cola, with many others that followed.

There was a programme on Jesus on Christmas day that I watched periodically. I think that it is actually an internal thing, you can run about on Christmas day talking about Jesus all day long and letting others see what your doing, on the other hand you can develop a relationship with Him on a daily basis were it does not matter what others are doing as long as you have your own house in order. Hopefully this has been of some help.

Christmas as we know it is the invention of an American retailer. It is a marketing and sales experience, not a mind and soul experience.
Regardless of one's religious inclinations, Christmas could be a fine time for people to celebrate generosity just by being nice to each other -- and doing that does NOT require a credit card.
As I understand it, the message of Jesus (others as well) is to pursue compassion and moral value, not consumerism and market value.
There's a sure way to change the current trend: STOP buying things for Christmas! There are many other ways to show your generosity.

No, not all people believe in God and the birth of Jesus. Santa Claus transcends all religions and brings people together. I think people are entitled to put as much emphasis on Jesus/Santa is there own prerogative....

Most definitely. In my family we have a good balance. We go to church on Christmas Eve and we also have Santa on Christmas morning. We always have a birthday cake for Jesus on Christmas Day.

Kudos on your question!!! Obviously in general sure! But the people who are religious are pointed toward Jesus and the little people are pointed toward Santa which by the way isn't a bad thing, parents just need to tell their children the profound difference and make it into a positive event. Steve

I think if you are religious, then, yes. However, I do not celebrate the religious Christmas Holiday. I celebrate the commericialized version of Christmas in which Santa is an integral part.
Hope everyone had a good Holiday Season!

Yes some people do.
I put Mom and Dad on the gifts that we bought for my 3 month old.
Hubby and I haven't really talked it out on what we're going to do on the next Christmas. (Whether or not we'll put Santa Claus on gifts or not).
we might put Jesus instead..I do not know how to go about that.
