Yes, as a matter of fact.
Look what the printing press did to the Catholic church!
People began to read and many left!

Er since Islam is the fastest growing religion in the US and Europe kind of defeats your argument. There is no negative correlation between education and belief in islam in fact quite the opposite. Most educated Muslims tend to be religious
There are 1.3 billion Muslims - dont think Islam is going to cease to exist , do you?
It may well be that many will leave the religion - indeed Islamic scriptures say at the end of time this will happen- but that doesnt look likely in the near future
And you really give yahoo answers alot more credit than is deserved.

Yes and no. In some countries where there is too much pressure on the people because of the "Islamic Laws", Islam is disappearing as we speak. One such country is Iran, where the government tries to press the laws of Islam to the people, and doesn't allow them to chose their own way of life. It is automatically destroying Islam as a religion amongst the Iranian families.
In other countries, where Islam is being preached but not pressed to the people, it is going to actually grow. Such countries are England, United States, Canada, etc. where I live and I see Islam being advertised more and more, year after year in media, etc.
Therefore I foresee a day that will come in future where Islam as it is today will not exist, and the population who are Muslim will decrease.

From what I've seen, people are becoming better educated about Islam through the net - so definitely a strong future for it.
(What you thought the internet didn't contain anything about Islam!? You got to surf more!)

yes, it and southern baptists. everybody else can stay. while you are at it, make sure no currently elected representatives or senators are ever allowed back into washinton dc after the first of the year. that would help everybody begin to straighten things out and hang all the lobbyists from city street lamps. so much to do in so short a time. get the ropes!
Hindu, now there is good religion. Buddhism is even better. Keep it simple with Buddhims, whic doesn't actually worship god or nuttin. The Buddhist just treach basic wisdom like learning to quit craving crap from China and how to eat right. I just think most of the muslim and most of the christians and jews are violent and always ready to bomb the hell out of their enemies, all the people they pick fights with.

No, I don't think it will cease to exist, at least not any time before Christianity does. If anything Islam seems to be getting more popularity. It's not exclusively a third-world happening either.

What is the basis for this question? From what I understand, Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world right now.
Religions have little to do with education, and much to do about choices in beliefs. There are plenty of uneducated non-believers, and plenty of educated believers.

Yes, but I think hardcore fundy Christianity of the hateful sort is on its way out as well. All of the religions that teach hate and murder as a way to come closer to God are going to fizzle in the next generation or so.

first of all, its not called the "third world" anymore. thats a very politically incorrect term that reeks of western (aka first world) supremacy. the correct term is developing world. and of course it will not cease to exist as a religion just because of neoliberal globalization and corporatism.
