I guess every place differs, but what is the quality of life where YOU life? I'm from New Jersey. i've also lived in NY and CA. All I can say is, the quality of life somewhat sucks. You have to put up with lots and lots of people wherever you go, traffic, crowded malls, crowded movie theaters, crowded restaurants and places to dine out, lots of attitude, no respect for life.

The quality of life from my opinion feels pretty low, and sub-standard, and only the upper class and the upper-middle class can nowadays enjoy anything remotely close to luxurious in this country.

If you're not in these upper echelons, the lowest being the upper middle class, then you most likely have to struggle, put up with sub-par, trashy people, poorer living conditions and basically crap all the time.

To me, living in New Jersey is like living in hell. The people resemble demons, honestly I think they are, in human form, and the environment resembles the Styx.

NY/CA vary.

I mean for the people who don’t believe, they know that people who do believe say when we die we will go to heaven

Now wouldn’t they rather just believe when they die they will go to a good place like heaven then think they are just going to rot in the ground!?!?

Background: Our 79 year old Mom does not like my 42 year old sister's MIL who is an artist. Sis's two boys are 20 and 24 years old. MIL is an artist and our Mother has always criticized her work. MIL painted portraits of Sis & Family. Sis loved them so bought & framed prints and gave to our parents for XMas.

Mom's response? In a dead, monotone voice: "We got your gift". It was clear she didn't like them and it really hurt Sis's feelings and she is so upset.

Mom has been called out numerous times for the hurtful, callous, insensitive things she says and does. By now she should know better. I'm fit to be tied over this. I told her that she hurt Sis's feelings deeply and she could at least have PRETENDED to like the gift. She should display the portraits even if SHE doesn't like them. It's her daughter, grandchildren, and son-in-law!

How should one respond to a gift they don't like, espec. from family?

Any other suggestions or comments appreciated.

One of my old German handbooks say Germans reserve du for very few occasions. But when I speak in German they never want to use Sie(formal) but informal Du(informal).

Im in quite a dilemma here. Since i recently got re-hired for a job, i am in training now and the schedule is coarse and strict. I have to work this saturday (since we had Xmas off) and be off Sunday, then I have to work again MONDAY (New year eve) then have new year day off. Real screwed up.

I am thinking to just call sick for monday, new year eve, to connect the 3 days so i can make a 3 hour trip to Miami so i can ring in the new year.

Will i get canned if i do this (it will be pretty unbelieveable to them that i got sick on monday!)? Should i do this? Since i am a rehire, i know the job very damn well and i dont care if i get an "occurence" or whatever..

I have always wondered why do people refer to Jesus as God?

I think this is blasphemy..

If u r gonna support your answers using quotes please states where in the Bible(if possible)..

If u r gonna say Jesus said "I and the father are one," that doesn't mean they are the same person; that simply means(to me) their goals are similar; they have similar purposes; they are close.

If u r gonna refer to the Trinity as the same person, state why with Biblical support// No personal beliefs please..

I have warned and warned my boys time again to take care of the dog, this morning I heard him wining and asked where the dog was, I was told he was in the crate in the bedroom, the they fought for the next ten min about who was going to let him out, then ignored it for a few min after that, went on playing the game. then ryan got up let him out but didnt take him outside, the when the dog messed on the floor he went to punish the dog, I said, no its not hid fault, you didnt take him out, this is not the first time we have went through this, but the last, I have found the dog a new home, with a grown man who just lost his dog. my ten year old is sitting on the couch in tears, and im trying hard to be strong, please tell me im not being an ogre. I know this doesnt belong here but you people are the only onces who answer
