I'd rather believe there's a million dollars in my bank account too.
You should think a little before you post this stuff. It should be really obvious what's wrong with what you said.

As a practicing witch I always wondered the same thing about Christians...isn't it easier just to accept that my beliefs are ok and comforting to me? I always wondered that, but it never changed anyone elses views and it never will, which IS OK! And I'm sure that every belief system out there wonders that about all of the other ones.
Why does it trouble you so much that atheists feel this way? I think personally that the atheist community may be the only one in the world that has completely gotten over their egos and really come to terms with death, if you think about it. They have accepted that they are not immortal, that they believe that when they die, that's it--end of story...You may think that sounds pretty depressing but it's actually just the opposite. They go on and live their lives while the rest of the world is preoccupied with death and how they will be able to beat it or "live on". I am not an atheist, but I certainly respect their ability to live life and stand strong in their beliefs. I sometimes wish that I was as capable of being that accepting and life-focused, but I'm not. What is actually scarier to me than hell is what if I spend the entire life that I have here on Earth wondering about the afterlife and how to get there, and it turns out that they are right??
I think that the religious and spiritual people should really just back up off of them and leave them be. They have every right to feel the way they do as much as you or I have the right to our beliefs. We really have no clue who's right or wrong, and harping at people just makes things worse. I mean, what if they stood around 24 hours a day and laughed at you, calling you egotistical and ignorant for actually thinking that there is a heaven and hell or that you aren't as suseptible to death as every other creature on earth? Probably wouldn't feel too good and would be just as big a waste of time...

Because people who do believe think all of their dreams will come true in heaven, but if you believe that and its NOT true, then you have lived a boring meaningless life only to rot in the ground when you die anyway. That's why I cherish every minute I am alive and make sure *I* am the one who makes my own dreams come true. I try to live life to the fullest because there probably isn't any afterlife anyway. So either way, rotting in the ground or burning in hell, you might as well enjoy things while your still alive.

Some people need some evidence to support the existence of your god before believing.
Suppose your god is not the real god. And that after you die, the real god tells you that you are not going to heaven because you believed in the wrong god all your life. What will you do then?
Wouldn't it be better to not believe in any god, until you are convinced by the evidence? Consider this: if you still do not believe, and after you die, some god tells you, "OK, you didn't believe in me, but you didn't believe in the wrong gods either. You get a pass."
It is better not to believe in any god than to believe in the wrong god. Now consider the thousands and thousands of gods available. How can you choose the real one?

Faith, I think as humans when were young its easy to believe in something that we cannot see. As we get older we question more, and some of us are more easily influenced than others. The Bible says " The whole world lies in the power of the wicked one" Temptations are everywhere. It is harder in this day and age, to stay on the right path. We are human, and God knows we are weak, but he still loves us and will forgive us. I know I have learned so much from the Bi ble, and upon developing a better relationship with God I feel complete.

Because I (not we, I don't like speaking for millions) like to see proof before I do anything. Why do you like to believe that there is a beast out there so arrogant to give orders to everything in a world? Why would I want to believe that there is any chance that I might rot in eternal fire? Willful ignorance and blind faith only lead to destruction and despair.
Ryan H:
Why are you so arrogant to believe that your path is the right one? Isn't that pride? Humility works both ways.

You have to understand where people come from. People are atheists because they have been corrupted by the worldly ways to give into their wants, and to only believe in what they can see. Which I guess they can't believe in air or gravity. But thats another subject.
Don't worry, in a short time, that is in our lifetime, the tribulation will happen. During this time alot of these people will convert to God because they will see the things spoken of. But, there will still be ones that deny God. During the tribulation period, theres only 2 sides, no middle ground. You are either with God or against Him. But until that time, the prophecies must take place. Which are as we speak, taking place. One is lawlessness everywhere, earthquakes, (I wrote a huge blog on this, we have had 309 earthquakes in 8 years that were 5.8 - 9.0. From 1900-1999 there were 396. I think thats a significant thing.), famines, false prophets, and so on.
The question I have is this, why is it they can believe what schools teach them on history but they can't believe the bible, which is history. You can prove the bible 100% accurate. And they have. Oh thats right, they can't believe what they can't see. So I guess history never happened cause they can't see it. Kinda hypocritical on their part isn't it?

I'd rather believe that if I jumped off the edge of the Grand Canyon head first that I would survive, but.
that's just not plausible.
And I'm quite content with the fact that, once I do make said jump, I will be dead and that will be the end of me. I don't need false hope to carry me through the day, babe.

Try some logic and consideration of other points of view next time.
"...they know that people who do believe say when we die we will go to heaven..."
Yeah, and um, that doesn't necessarily make it true.
No I would not "rather just believe" because for me that would be make-believe and pointless. Why don't you "just believe" that closet monsters will bring you ice cream at 2am tonight.

Believing is not matter of choice, you either believe or you don't. Can you choose to believe that a dog can fly when you obviously know it can't? Same goes for belief in gods. Just because the thought of going to heaven when you die comforts you, doesn't make it true.

I like your whole ideal of 'peace and prosperity and seeking truth', but I see no sign of you Christians actually following your own beliefs and trying to make the world a better place. All you seem to do is condemn others who are trying to lead perfectly natural lives, and causing so much suffering that others are forced to insult you and say that you are evil, not good.
If your religion were just and true, people would be more likely to accept your god. However, as it is...
