I had such a vivid dream, even down to details of pain and blood, of swearing an oath to one of the Gods, who later spoke to me in the dream.
Is there any way to tell if this was "just" a dream? How binding would an oath like this be?

Hello to all my fellow Pastafarians. After years of turmoil and doubt, I have discovered the truth: The FSM.

His existance is undeniable- he's around, but no one can see him because he's invisible! Finally a religion based on sound reasoning.

How do I become a member of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster? Are there formal rites, or do I need to find a noodley preacher? Does this involve spaghetti sauce, because if it does I probably shouldn't wear white to the ceremony. Or do I simply begin following His "Eight 'I'd Really Rather You Didn'ts' "?

I hope it doesn't involve purchasing a pirate boat, at least not now, for I am too low on money for that.

May you be stained by his holy spaghetti sauce. RAmen.

I know this is the generic question or whatever, but I would love some help.
I do not know what to give my boyfriend this Christmas. We've been dating for about two months now.

He's a 19 year old freshman in college. He's double majoring in electrical engineering and computer science.
He's kind of geeky/dorky; he's really into computers & the Internet, Guitar Hero, Rockband, video games in general, WoW (World of Warcraft), the website Woot!.com, rock music, etc. (Typical "geeky/dorky" things).

I am kind of on a tight budget. The less money, the better.

I'm open to any suggestions! :]
Thanks in advance.

I'm a big believer that guys should open doors.

When you come across double doors it gets awkward. Do you wait for them to open the second door for you? Do you open it yourself?

i gotta admit. i feel a little bit ripped off. not because of what the previews promised but because of what the catholic church claimed about the movie the golden compass. where exactly was all the pro-atheism, anti-catholic content i heard so much about in the news? about the only correlation between the council in the movie and the catholic church i found was the councils efforts to prevent free thought, and the catholic churches efforts to prevent people from watching this movie. of course there would have been no similarity drawn had the catholic church not boycotted the movie to begin with. this must be what is meant by the term self-fulfilling prophecies. who else saw the movie? what did you think of it?

It's kind of assumed that there's a real number of people in Hell and one day that number will stop increasing. If that day does come you'd think it should've been day two or day three. You know when there's not a whole lot of people going to Hell.

I'm almost 50 with a 10 year old daughter, a 30 year old daughter and two grandsons ages 10 and 8. My oldest daughter and I had babies 2 months apart.
So my daughter has a nephew 2 months older than her. It's funny to hear my grandson call my daughter Aunt. . Plus when I told my daughter I was pregnant as well, she got real quiet for a minute and then said " Gross!"-lol.

Does one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would hate it.

Holy Quran

He who slanders has sinned in every instance. Slander is when you mention something about a person which is not a fault in's eye Gods, or when you censure what the people of knowledge praise.

As for discussing someone who is not present with regard to something which Allah censures, when that person is guilty of it, then this does not amount to slander, even if he dislikes it when he hears it; and you are free of any slight of that person. This is in order to make the truth clear from the false by the clarification of Allah and His Messenger. However, this has a precondition, in that the person who says it must seek only to clarify what is true and false, in the faith of Allah. If he means to deprecate the person of whom he talks without meaning to make things clear, then he is taken to task for his corrupt goal, even if he is correct in what he says.

If you really slander someone, then seek pardon from that person. If you do not go that far nor reach that point, then ask Allah's forgiveness for that. Slander eats up good deeds as fire eats up wood. As Allah revealed to Moses, 'The slanderer will be the last to enter the Garden, if he repents. If he does not repent, then he will be the first to enter the Fire.

The various aspects of slander occur when you mention a fault in someone's character, intellect, action, behaviour, belief, ignorance and so on.

The origin of slander may be one of ten types: venting one's anger, pleasing other people, suspicion, believing a report without investigating it, having a bad opinion, envy, mockery, astonishment at some action in another which one does not comprehend, dissatisfaction or impatience with others, and embellishment of oneself at the expense of others.

If you seek Islam, then remember the Creator and not the created; then the circumstances of slander will be a lesson for you, and a wrong action will be replaced by a reward.

I've been pretty attached to reading stuff from fstdt.com/fundies just because it's interesting to see all the things people spout off about, and how much ignorance is present today. That said, I have this question for you:

Why is it that fundamentalists generally have no idea what atheism is about? More importantly, how on EARTH can one make a statement such as "Atheists believe in God, they just don't know/want to admit it"?

Also, how do some people come to the conclusion that atheism is equal to anarchy, that atheists have no morals whatsoever and are baby-killing, God-hating people who are working for the devil?

PLEASE, if someone can explain to me why people are so ignorant...

(Also, please do not post "Jesus said this [...], so you're stupid!" or "Fundies are f***ing morons, etc." I'm seriously interested in understanding what makes people come to such conclusions, please and thank you. =D)
