The first thing I do is wish them the best for the winter season (I'm a "holiday card" person due to differing beliefs in family and friends) and make a clear wish for 2008. "All the best", "healthy, happy & prosperous", "with love and warmth to you and yours".

If you're more into personalizing each card, which I often do, try to recall why you're sending Sally a card. Did you meet at a party over the summer and you've kept in touch? Try mentioning that in the card. Was Michael a great aid in algebra? Christmas is about being grateful and considering the year on a whole. Find one thing that stands out for you about that person that you are thankful for. Even something so simple as a bubbly personality that made your days a little cheerier this year is enough to be a meaningful message that will warm the recipient's heart.

Make it personal or tow the holiday line "Merry Christmas and wishing you a happy New Year" is enough to say "I'm thinking of you".
