I'm a big believer that guys should open doors.

When you come across double doors it gets awkward. Do you wait for them to open the second door for you? Do you open it yourself?

sorry I didn't mean double as in 2 doors next to each other (I can fit through one just fine)

I mean double as in 2 sets of doors.

If it's only a friend and they open the 1st one, I would open the 2nd one myself. if it was my partner, I'd wait for him to open both. I also think this is something nice that should be preserved... too bad that kids nowadays have lost all sense of courtesy and their parents have not educated them to preserve these habits.

It's polite for anyone to open a door, not just guys. If it's a significant other, same thing- gay, or bi, straight etc. I don't think politeness should be labeled as a male/female thing, but it is. O, for the double door thing- just go through the side that is open. If you can't fit through one side of the door, um that maybe unhealthy for you, no offense either but all doube doors I've seen "normal" people can fit through. Now you are "normal" and have your hands full of xmas bags, um I would just kick it open and make some joke about not fitting through it.

What is this that guys should open doors? Hah! I can see if it's to assist and elderly or disabled person. That makes sense. But to open the door for someone who's perfectly able-bodied is just silly.

Nah. Let the women open their own doors. They want equal rights? Let's give it to them.
