Razzle, I am SHOCKED. You went to Tesco?!

Now that would by hypocritical if you've ever complained about the lack of choice on the high street, the dying town centre or the excess packaging on food!

A good dose of Kylie or a night at a club should get those Christmas carols out of your head.

I use to feel a similar unease attending friends weddings or funerals in churches. But think about the real reason you were there. It wasn't to be seen to be doing the 'right thing', it was because you are a great friend.

You should commend yourself instead of questioning if you're being hypocritical.
First of all you have a Christian friend you obviously care alot about and that says alot about your friendship.
Second, your friend is lucky to have the support of a good friend such as yourself.
There are thousands of people in this world that aren't religious that donate to religious causes, and they aren't being hypocrites.
There's a saying that "we should help Christians be better Christians, Catholics be better Catholics, etcetera".
Staying the 2 hours you did tells me there is an inner strength and caring heart and mind to your being even if you aren't a religious person.
You don't have to be a Christian to do what you did.
Don't consider for a moment that you are a hypocrite, but instead pat yourself on the back, and feel lucky you helped not only with your donation, but more-so by taking the time to support your friend.
Remember, you did it for a friend and her church, it's Christmas time, and there is a war going on in Iraq and other places where people wish they could have been in your shoes for those 2 hours.
Way to go!

Well, did you tell your friend that the singing converted you to Christianity? No? Then clearly you were there to support her, and not because it was religious.

Sometimes friendship is more important than making a statement about what you believe all the time. After all, probably a lot of people who listened to it were not Christians, but music lovers. Did they do a good job? Were the songs pretty? Did you enjoy the experience from a musical point of view? If so, that's plenty to avoid the name of hypocrite.

Most people enjoy Christmas carols even if they are not Christians or into religion. You went and supported your friend and there is nothing wrong with that. It was like you went to a concert to enjoy some nice music. If you enjoyed yourself and had a good time that is all that matters.

no, I don't think your a hypocrite. Its great that you donated to a good cause! One doesn't have to fully believe in the religious side of an organization to donate to it. You just have to support what they are doing with the money. Sounds like they used it to bring the community closer and give a bit of Xmas to everyone. Be proud that you were a part of that!

not all faiths are "religious". that is human pushing their agenda on the congregation. If you want to be relaxed and find out what it is really about, then research it yourself. Attending an official church is not mandatory in the bible.

you are not a hypocrite, you are an excellent friend. Feel good that even though you don't agree with it, some of that money will probably feed some kid whose parents are having financial difficulty

No, your intentions are good, just get over your prejudices.
I had the same conflict years back. I was very anti organized religion in all forms. After much studying I realized it didn't matter what I thought of anyone else's beliefs and disliking them or their religion only served to cause myself undue stress and negativity. If it makes a person happy in this f'd up world, more power to them. If the try and help others in the name of their convictions, thats great for everyone. If they hurt or limit others in that same name, thats the individual taking advantage of the guise of a higher authority to promote their agenda. Take people as they are, one at a time. Decisions and prejudices on a "groups" beliefs are more often than not....wrong. Take care. Look up the Tao, and enjoy.

Your not a hypocrite. You were supporting a friend not the church. You did the right thing by supporting her and going even though you disagree with religion.

No, it is those religious freaks who are hypocrites. They support a vile system which sees over a billion people without clean water, yet they think they can make it all better by rattling a stupid plastic collection tin. It's a disgrace. If they had any moral fibre they wouldn't waste their lives praying to a mythical space ghost and would instead work to change the world order. Their hypocrisy disgusts me.

I think your friend should be very happy that she has a good friend like you who would support her although you didnt believe in it. I do not think you are a hypocrite. You just donated to help those in need. That's all. Come on, you should be proud of yourself!!
