I know this is the generic question or whatever, but I would love some help.
I do not know what to give my boyfriend this Christmas. We've been dating for about two months now.

He's a 19 year old freshman in college. He's double majoring in electrical engineering and computer science.
He's kind of geeky/dorky; he's really into computers & the Internet, Guitar Hero, Rockband, video games in general, WoW (World of Warcraft), the website Woot!.com, rock music, etc. (Typical "geeky/dorky" things).

I am kind of on a tight budget. The less money, the better.

I'm open to any suggestions! :]
Thanks in advance.

hi
How about trying to incorporate something that the two of you have shared. Maybe going online or mail ordering something that would remind him of a vacation or trip you have been on together. Or even something that would remind him of an extra special day the two of you shared at home. Also, you could make a collage from pictures of the two of you and other things that represent the two of you - might go faster than painting or drawing something. Since he's into movies you might even make a collage type of thing w/ a camcorder so he can watch it rather than hang it on a wall. You take shots of objects and pictures and yourself - you can go around to places you like to go together and take shots there.... a moving collage. You sound creative, I'm sure it would be great

There's many places that sell a lot of games for less, you just have to shop around.

If he's geeky and into computer science and has an X-box 360, consider investing in Mass Effect. If he has a Wii Super Mario Galaxy is the way to go. Even Neverwinter Nights 2 and other computer RPG's are nice.

Just get him one game he'll really, really like. Rock Band and Guitar Hero are too expensive with the peripherials. Another game would be better (the ones I mentioned).

A lot of stores such as Gamestop and EB Games also sell used games for low prices, and if you have video games you can always trade them in for store credit.

instead of a gift so to say. why dont you pick a day like the sunday before christmas and cook him a nice dinner. put on something nice and maybe even do your hair and make up real nice. make something easy like a lasagna. you can get those noodles you dont have to cook and theres an easy recipe on the box on how to make it. then make a easy salad and garlic bread. desert is easy too. get something already made at the store or try a jello no bake. they make this amazing strawberry cheesecake. you throw it together and refrigerate for two hours. super good and easy. you could set the table with candles from around the house. as for a gift get a dvd or two. walamrt or even some video stores are selling them super cheap right now. get ideas on what he wants to see. you guys could spend time together after dinner and watch movies and cuddle. if thats not your style then at dinner offer to take him to go see a movie out or purchase movie tickets in advance and plan the dinner around that.

in store credits are so lame! gift cards are lame! plus its hard to choose games and controllers for a geeky game guy and that gets expensive. i wouldnt go that route. my boyfriend has wasted so much money buying new guitars for his guitar hero games and some games he has bought he has only played a hand full of times and got bored.

Write him a poem and frame it. $1 or 2 at the dollar store.

Gift him with an afternoon-date. Something with physical activity like snow-shoeing or ice skating or a walk by the river. Bring with you thick sandwiches and hot chocolate from home. $5 to 7

Bake him his own homemade (apple) pie. - He'll love it ! -- $4 to 7

Find a DVD of your favorite movie when you were a kid (maybe Young Frankenstein, or Superman or Star Wars or E.T., Charlie Chaplin, The Three Stooges, old Cartoons, John Wayne, the Lone Ranger, WWII movies, Beverly Hillbilly's,) ..........something that might appeal to him and be funny too. Go into any store like Walmart or large Grocery stores or Drug Stores.....even Dollar Stores. You can buy DVD's for $1 each. So if you have $5 get 3 movies and a box of microwave popcorn and candy.

Get him a funny coffee mug and fill it with candy or stuff it with packets of hot chocolate or hot cider mix. $3 to 7

A dollar store has a great selection of games and jigsaw puzzles -- along with microwave popcorn or another snack.
Maybe a giant calculator for the Geeky Guy.
$2 to 10

If you're trying to win his heart. Go for the Apple Pie.

Rule #1: non-committal!

Nothing stings more than a gift that says "I'm in it for the long haul" when you're not ready for it!

That out of the way, non-committal ideas are EASY! Anything that is consumable is a college dream gift! Sweets, snacks, date planning gift cards (dinner & movie), school supplies (nice pen set, or pencil in his case ;) ).

For more permanent gift items, guitar face plates for the Guitar Hero controllers are under $20 and are fun and friendly. If you know of a video game that he has held off buying for himself, try getting a second-hand copy from re-sellers like EB or flea markets! You're students, you don't need to shell out retail.

If you're feeling brave, a designer t-shirt (think threadless.com) or comical holiday boxers are just detached enough.

Well if you don't know what to get him do what I did for my dad, he can be very picky. So what I got him was a gift catalog where he can choose from over 20 products with a wide range of products. I went to http://ccheung.ordermygift.com

Ordered a small gift catalog and it mailed to him in about 5 days. He just picks a product and calls the number on the back and they send it to him. There about 2 dozen types of catalogs with various price ranges. So no headache, no worrying if you got the right or wrong gift. Hope this helps
