It could be personal preference of some of the people.
Or it may contain some ingredients which are derivatives of animal which are prohibited.

actually arabs make home made jams and marmalades , they not only buy the ones in the supermarket
i got two jars on my table and i'm an arab, i also like peanut butter and so do my kids
i don't know why you have to blame arabs and muslims all the time for being wierd because we don't think, talk or behave like you
we have a right to live the way we want, western way is not the ideal way for everyone
try accepting other people the way they are, even if you have to accept that there are those out there who choose not to eat jam

Arabs eat jam! God never said not to eat jam. You can verify it yourself by going to an ethnic food market and seeing that most of the fig jam comes from Arab countries and has Arabic writing on it. I have some in my fridge now...jam is great.

They sell this Jam in Yemen:

This isn't exactly the fig jam I'm talking about, but it's a similar idea:

Arabs and Muslems are very particular about all they eat.Cheese and cakes might contain pork ingredients such as lard. Even hamburgers at M.D. are suspect.Wieners and sausages or canned meat.I have never heard about 'jams' but maybe it was on a shelf next to a forbidden item.
