Being a Christian, I have heard people say many times that man wrote the Bible and not God. The truth is that they are right. Man did write the Bible. Meaning, he put pen to paper, and that is all. Think of it like this. Let's say an executive is in his office and wishes to write a letter to a company. Instead of writing it himself, he calls in his secretary and asks her to jot done what he says. He dictates while she writes. Now, what she writes are not her words. They come from the executive and the executive alone. All she is doing is putting pen to paper. This is the same thing that happened with God and man. God spoke...man wrote. It is as simple as that.
I will not get into a long discussion about why God wrote the Bible and not man, but I will give one simple bit of evidence for you to think about. It is not much, but I believe it holds a lot of truth about who really wrote the Bible. Here is that bit of evidence:
Man cites his source: I have written several papers in college. One thing I have come to understand is that plagiarism is a crime. You cannot take someone else's work and make it your own. You must cite your source. When it comes to the Bible, the same thing applies. Here are a few examples:
•2 Timothy 3:16-17/ All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
In the verse above, the first few words sum all of it up when it says "All Scripture is God-breathed.” If you can read, you should be able to understand that this is where man is citing his source.
•1 Peter 1:20-21/ Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, 21 or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.
Once again, another verse where man cites his source. The one thing that is absolutely amazing is that the first verse is written by the Apostle Paul, and the second, Peter. These are two of the most known names in all of Christianity, aside from Christ. Why would these two men cite there source as God? Because they wanted no credit for writing the Bible. They wanted everyone to know that what they wrote came from God and God alone. God spoke…they wrote!
