The Arctic is screaming," said Mark Serreze, senior scientist at the government's snow and ice data center in Boulder, Colo.

Just last year, two top scientists surprised their colleagues by projecting that the Arctic sea ice was melting so rapidly that it could disappear entirely by the summer of 2040.

This week, after reviewing his own new data, NASA climate scientist Jay Zwally said: "At this rate, the Arctic Ocean could be nearly ice-free at the end of summer by 2012

Yes, having no ice in the arctic will cause tidal waves, earthquakes and volcanoes to erupt in Central Park.

I will cause the Earth to cease to exist too.

Come on, just something else that could happen in 2012. Maybe it will not happen until 2015, maybe it will happen in 2011.

Why have you not used the London Olympics to predict the coming of the End Times yet? That happens in 2012 too!

Elizabeth II gets her diamond jubilee - that must be significant too.

Doesn't Revelations have anything on the number 7? The world population should hit 7 billion in 2012.

And the sun is going to go out! Well, not really, but it is going to reverse it's magnetic poles which is probably close enough for you. (But don't mention that it does this every 11 years)

The arctic ice is an important message and one humanity needs to take heed of. But it is not a message from god.

You mention that other scientists were "surprised" by these predictions by their colleagues. I wonder why? Maybe because they didn't expect such bizarre "reasoning" from somebody claiming to be a scientist? I don't recall Revelations describing climate change so precisely.
2012? That's only 4 years away. I guess there's not much point in updating my last will and testament....

What prophecy? No centuries-old figure made any recorded claim that arctic ice would melt by 2012. You seem to have made up a prophecy. Incidentally, you're talking about a prophecy as having come true when it hasn't.

I hereby proclaim that pink unicorns will rule the world by 2012. On an unrelated note, I have just uncovered scientific evidence that pink unicorns will rule the world by 2012. What are your thoughts on my prophecy having come true?

Some sort of catastrophic event happens every year. You can't just take the specific one that happens in 2012 and claim it is the bible revelations. Also, I don't think the people in California swimming to Arizona Bay is an Apocalypse.

One scientist does not a consensus make. I'd like to see what others have to say about this before buying a boat.

This would be a good time to invest in Arctic beach front property.

Well...then we'll all find out the prophecies were true won't we???

If indeed that does happen...the Nile river will once again as it was in Old Testament times...Waterworld anyone???

So... you trust science about the arctic, but not evolution or the age of the Earth...

I'm sure God would want us to look eagerly towards the end of the world, instead of averting it.
