my guess is a lot of us would probably be dead by something that antibiotics cured us of.

Why are Christians the target of these antagonistic posts? I don't care what you say, I have been watching the questions here for quite a long time, and at least over 90% of anti-rligious questions are aimed at Christians. Why is that? If you think that God is a fairy tale and religion is bad, then why don't you include Jews, Muslims, or Hindus in this question? Well, I know one big reason why: Because Institutions of Higher Learning (what a joke!) have systematically attacked Christianity and indoctrinated their minds-full-of-mush students into believing this garbage. Most of you attackers come out of a post-christian cultural situation in which blaming Christianity for everything is acceptable and politically correct. In fact, bigotry against Christians (and especially Catholic Christians) is one of the last acceptable prejudices in America. If you insult a homosexual or a Muslim you have commited a hate crime. Insult a Christian and you're a hero at UC Berkeley. These attacks are better proof than any other proof I know of that Christanity is the true religion: Why else would the world attack it so hard?

You imply that sickness and ailment is a punishment from a god, or a car god makes use of to impart courses? I suppose so much theists are inclined to take delivery of germ concept so long as remedy works for them. It's best in depression that they flip to god rather of medical professionals.

During the reign of pope Leo XII (1823-1829) he forbid vaccination against smallpox during an epidemic, stating that it was 'against the natural law'.

In the 11th century, European church leaders warned monks that treating illness with medicine showed such a lack of faith in God that it violated holy orders.

Nice!

If they'd had the internet in 1850, I'm sure there would have been plenty who opposed it. I'd imagine the information just wasn't readily available.

Germ Theory is a myth. We now know disease is caused by evil demons as the bible says. When people practiced biblical medicine we lived to be 900 years old. Now as a result of "germ theory" people only live one tenth as old as they used to.

Tech the controversy. There is lots of scientific evidence to show that demons make you sick.

In all seriousness, I'm glad that scientists have continued to be so stern with ignorant people.

Edit: Did Catholic Crusader just admit that he is against higher education? Why would he just give us fuel?

This is the real danger in religious and faith based belief.

It always fights against progress.

Luckily the scientific method isn't a religion (despite the claims of fundies) so religion has nothing to fight against philosophically.

You can't deny that the scientific principal works, and that the search for understanding is beneficial. Before we established the Scientific Method, progress was continually thwarted by the religious, now we can fall back on our method of discovery, point to it and religion cannot fight it.

In the first part of the twentieth century religious zealots of the christian faith tried to hinder the development of modern aviation. (If god wanted man to fly,he would have given them wings). Fortunately rationality prevailed.
