I hear people say, "that's gay" when they are refering to something that is lame or stupid, but it has nothing to do with someone who is gay being lame or stupid, it's just a saying.

Do gay people find this offensive?

Example:

Person 1: "I can't go tonight because I by girlfriend doesn't let me hang out with my friends."

Person 2: "that's gay"

Don't pitty me. I well educated, I assure you.

I just have concern for peoples feelings and respect diffences of opinion.

This is not meant to be an attack on you, but the way you worded this question is a stereotype.

The answer to your question is that yes some gay people might be offended by this statement, but other gay people may not. There are no "ALL OR NOTHINGS" when it comes to people. Because everyone is an idividual everone feels different about different things.

I personally am not offended by this statement.

When i think about it, it should be offensive, but i feel people have been saying that's gay long before being gay was a big thing, so the slang that's gay had already set in peoples mind of something that's lame or stupid so that's how they always remenber it ... maybe that's why when they here someone say i'm gay they reference it back to they memory of the word meaing lame and stupid.

Yes I think saying "That's Gay" is rude to say. My brother said that to me and my jaw just dropper (because I'm gay also). I asked him not to say that around me since I don't say to him "That's Straight". I think people that say "That's Gay" shows a level of low mentality on their end. It's not gay because their GF doesn't want him to hang out with his friends. That's lame that he doesn't have the balls to speak his mind and tell her how he really feels. That's what's sad.

I have tons of gay friends and I say it sometime by accident. It is better off not to say it. I usually say dumb or stupid just sub in another word. Most gays dont find it offensive but in considering others feelings you are better off not saying it at all, plus think about it it makes no sense

Although saying "That's gay" is immature, stupid, and uneducated, it shouldent be offensive. If anything, it should be laughed at for the users intelegence.Taking offence to it would be silly.

Yes. I try not to get offended, but this is just ridiculous. To make 'gay' a term that describes anything undesirable gives a negative connotation to all gay people.

I am highly offended by that.
If used in the workplace, its actually deemed as sexual harrassment.

In response, I now say, "Thats so hetero!" Say it enough and the breeders start getting annoyed. Keep saying it until they stop saying, "Thats so gay."

Im bi but no I really dont get offended. I dont think I would if someone were to say "That's Bi" and refering to something lame or stupid. I do think it shouldn't be said to refer to something stupid or negative, but even I've said it before.

I don't know but I have done that sooo many times around gay friends and they don't say anything, but they might find it offensive and just say nothing.
