Although unconventional - it falls upon me (as opposed to MacTealc) to invite all of good heart to join us at MacTealc Towers - appropriately on the date of American Thanksgiving.

Will you join us in giving thanks also for the gifts of friendship?
Of reconciliation?
And of love?

ALL are welcome to be with us - even those that will not allow the Brave MacTealc his voice on this site. For he bears you no malice but bids that I wish you the same happiness that he has found.

On the event we would ask you bring your tallest stories, your deepest secrets - and forget which is which and tell all to us - your friends and family!

We shall laugh and we shall make jest at the expense of those that have forgotten how to smile - and we know who they are.

But come one - come all .............Hetti and the Girls are fluffed up, Rooster Cogburn is on patrolm, the wee wobbly pup is courting a fetching wee collie and is eager to show her off!

And MacTealc and I have great news!

For some people, their belief in God is based on the idea that everything is so perfect that it must have been designed by an intelligent creator.

They generally answer questions about God's existence like this, "Just look around you. Who do you think made everything?"

They use God to answer every unknown question about life. Like...
Q: Where did the universe come from?
A: Oh, God did it.

OK then....
Q: Where did god come from?
A: Uhhhhh.....God did it.

Then they say "God has always existed"

But, that completely goes against their original argument for God's existence (that everything is so perfect it must have been created).

It would make more sense for them to say that the Universe has always existed and that it created everything from itself.

So my real question to these people is .......Are you really, just making yourselves believe in God because you are psychologically conditioned to fear Hell?

What has happened to seniors? I used to like?
to come here and have a laugh, now we all block everyone in case they are the undercover reporter's who gets us violations and suspended. We have all made our accounts private, what a shame I blame the trolls, and the reporters who reported us for a spelling mistake and I see they are still on here.

O how you ought to thank your heavenly King!

... you should render all the thanks and praise which your whole soul has power to possess, to that God who has created you, and has kept and preserved you, and has caused that ye should rejoice, and has granted that ye should live in peace one with another --
Mosiah 2:19&20

I heard there was more than one St John, 3 acutally. One had nothing to do with revelations, the other St. John the Baptist.
How can you define St. John, as the writer of revelations in a way it is clear who I am talking about? And at what period did he write them? (Year eg. 95 A.D.) I don't know if there is a real answer to this question.

I get angry w/ senior citizens who take forever to cross the street and begin tirades against them. Does it make me pathetic or crazy?

Since we all know religion poisons everything, causes deaths and murder all around the world, lets say if there was a chance for world peace by giving up your religion, would you do it for world peace?

I'm referring to the claim that Jesus rose into the sky and became a god.

Of Jesus' four official biographers (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John), only two even bother to mention it -- in one sentence each.

Perhaps the best lie is the one with fewest details -- and fewest versions.

What? Yes, there's a little more in the Book of Acts, one short paragraph. By the way, when did they come up with this story, anybody know?

Two of my questions that were reported as violations were restored WITHOUT my intervention. I didn't even appeal them, they were just restored. Has this happened to anyone else? Does this prove that if there are gods out there, they really don't care whether or not I believe in them?

I have a friend whos parents are strong republican Christian family. Big house, lots of money, expensive tvs and computers, pretty normal up to date family. Except 1 thing. He was discouraged as a child to like anything to do with magic. Even just pretending you were Superman was a sin. And now his little brothers are having that same child hood. He was not allowed to watch tv shows that containd magic.
Could not watch.

Smurfs
carebears
he man
thundercats
rainbowbright
the hobbit
ninja turtles
and many more

He could watch gi joe and scoobydoo but not much else

practicing witchcraft is one thing but the care bears?

Are all Christian reformists this looney? Hell I'm Baptist and even I can see the crazy in it.

I think its brainwashing them and takeing away their creativity. Its kinda like a legal form of child abuse.

I was pondering the news story about the Saudi rape victim being punished for violating a (Quran based) law forbidding women in public with non-relative males. The law is designed to protect women but it seems to me that if men were held accountable for their own actions, this law would not be necessary.

It also occurs to me that some other religions tend to blame women when men commit sins, Christianity being one of them. What underlying message is given here about the strength of a man's faith when "sins" can be so easily passed off as the woman's fault? Are men truly so weak as to not be able to accept responsibility for their own behaviours?

I am an Atheist. However, a good number of my discussions here have me attacking other Atheists who are making arguments that I can't agree with (some just don't make a lot of sense). Am I the only one who does this?

Christians, Atheists, Muslims anyone? How quick are you to call out someone of your faith who makes a questionable argument or do you just go along with them in the name of unity.

Pilgrims and Puritans had similar dreams. Both wanted to see their country blessed. But each had different views of how to go about it. In serving their God they had a different set of priorities. Fortunately the New World was a big land. And America provided a lot of elbow room for people of different persuasions to go about their business. It also offered many new opportunities. And so when they came to America the Pilgrims and Puritans began to flow together and complement one another.
FOREFATHERS" SIGNED A DOCUMENT. THIS WAS THE COVENANT KNOWN
AS THE 'MAYFLOWER COMPACT'. THEY WERE BINDING THEMSELVES
TOGETHER AND BEFORE GOD AS 'ONE BODY POLITICK'. THIS BECAME
A FOUNDATIONAL PRINCIPLE FOR ESTABLISHING THE AMERICAN NATION. -http://endtimepilgrim.org/puritans11.htm

In a recent post, I saw the same old lies being hauled out about the Catholic Church. So, here I go, trying to right the wrongs again:

1) We do NOT worship Mary. Prayer is not worship. Praying to Mary is simple the act of asking HER to pray for US, just like you protestants ask your friends to pray for you.

2) To the person who said "I don't need a pope": Well then you have a problem with Jesus, because he established the papacy in Matthew 16 and John 21 and made Peter the first pope. There is an unbroken line of popes back to Peter: http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/12272b.htm

3) We do NOT teach a different gospel. The Catechism states:
"Justification has been merited for us by the Passion of Christ.. ..It conforms us to the righteousness of God, who justifies us. It has for its goal the glory of God and of Christ, and the gift of eternal life. It is the most excellent work of God's mercy" (section 2020).

Don't you Fundies ever get tired of lying? Isnt that a sin?
