It's possible she's hard of hearing, and can't hear the volume of her own voice. Has anyone ever told her she's too loud? You might be doing her a favor to let her know...that would at least give her the opportunity to change her behavior, or even see a specialist for the help she may need.

This is not going to change. I do not know why Katie yells but this is just Katie. Either accept her of go away. I know it does not seem fair but you can not stand it so better now than later. I feel so bad for the both of you. I had a good friend that spoke very loud and I said well she is my friend and I will accept it. After I had a child.
she took care of him for one day. She sat with him in the sand box and played with him all day long. I noticed my son had torn almost half of his hair out of his head that day and then I had to make the decision to see her only when I was alone with her because it had an awful effect on my son. I knew it irritated my husband too but thought why can't he exhibit some patientecne then I realized this is just to abnormal to expect my family to put up with.

Possibly she is from a big city such as New York or Chicago and is accustomed to speaking loud due to the excessive noise(cars, subways, etc). She may just need some help adjusting(aka tell her to quiet down)

Maybe she is hard of hearing, like others have suggested. Or, again like others have suggested, she likes to hear herself speak. Maybe she just doesn't realize that she is being so loud. I am sometimes loud and someone has to tell me to shut up because I'm being ridiculous. I just don't always know how loud I am...maybe she is the same way?

Maybe Katie just likes to listen to the sound of her own voice. Some people are like that.

my ap history teacher sounds like she's yelling a lot too. maybe she feels like she needs to project her voice. or wants to be heard, and now just does it subconsciously. or is hard of hearing?
