I was pondering the news story about the Saudi rape victim being punished for violating a (Quran based) law forbidding women in public with non-relative males. The law is designed to protect women but it seems to me that if men were held accountable for their own actions, this law would not be necessary.

It also occurs to me that some other religions tend to blame women when men commit sins, Christianity being one of them. What underlying message is given here about the strength of a man's faith when "sins" can be so easily passed off as the woman's fault? Are men truly so weak as to not be able to accept responsibility for their own behaviours?

"I have rode in cars with men who weren't related to me...I have yet to be raped by any of them"
She was not raped by the friend she was in the car with. She was gang raped by 7 men who carjacked them and then beat up her friend. Guess I need to post an article link.

I think it is more appropriate to ask: Why do a lot of men give women that kind of power in the first place? (And they're supposed to be the "stronger sex"??)

Men are mandated by The Almighty to be the heads of households/family leaders when they marry. When men's behaviors get way out of control, what are women supposed to do? Whoever heard of an out-of-control head??

Almighty God, not testosterone, must dominate men's thinking and behavior at all times. Testosterone is not so powerful a hormone that men cannot control it. Blaming women for their (men's) careless, wreckless, irresponsible, and sinful behavior is not fair. Women have enough to be concerned about.

I agree with your premise that men should be responsible for their own actions or sins, and I'm a guy. As I understand it, the Muslim culture is very male-dominated which explains why it has creeped into their religion to blame the female.

As for you stating that Christianity has some similar aspects, I have no idea what you are talking about. As my Bible reads, men and women have different responsibilites in a relationship or family, but they are equally responsible to God for their actions.

I don't see where Christianity blames women for men's sins. From the Garden of Eden, Adam was punished for disobedience.

Other than that, I can understand the Quran based law. Was the rapist punished?

I really don't know about Christianity being blamed for men's' sin. Adam tried to blame Eve, but that didn't wash with God because God gave the charge to Adam, not Eve. What religion are you speaking of? because in some religions/beliefs, women don't even have a voice!

Hmm...I don't agree with you on Christianity blaming women..
although i felt it unfair the sentence in the case of the Saudi rape victim.

Forget the religious base of the law she supposedly violated, I'd of just not broken the secular law of the land I lived in...do i think it's a ridiculous law? To a certain extent, yes...I have rode in cars with men who weren't related to me...I have yet to be raped by any of them.

To me this does not seem to have much to do with the strength of a mans faith.
Women are as much to blame as men because they fail to speak out. They agree with victimizing other women.
When I talk to Mormons about polygamy it seems that I am attacked by the women much more than the men.

It was once the girl who ate the fruit first, then satisfied the person to take it additionally. The each rebelled towards God. But given that God appointed the person as the top, he bears the bigger accountability for what took location within the Garden of Eden. That is why the Apostle Paul placed the blame on him whilst he stated, "That is why, simply as via one MAN sin entered into the sector and demise via sin, and for that reason demise unfold to all guys since that they had all sinned—.(Romans five:12)

Y'all listened to the snake and picked the apple off the tree--lol-truth is an excuse will be used as long as the world gives it play. Men aren't any weaker or stronger than women-and of course the bulk of us do accept personal repsonsiility.

I've never understood that as well.

I've been told to dress modestly in the past (I'm sort of...um...blessed) because it's "unfair" to men to have to have cleavage and things around, especially if they're married.

Men can control themselves, and I and everyone else should be able to walk around dressed however we want.

I guess I don't have an answer, but this is a good question.
