By the age of 70 most senior citizens loose the ability to understand what is important in life, what is less important and what is unimportant. They tend to concentrate on stupid tiny issues and ignore big, important issues. My friends's grandmother would just blabber endlessly about trifle things the whole day. What to do about it?

In my opinion, senior citizens should learn to destinguish between important and unimportant things in life. What do you think?

... which I consider expensive. However, BF and I almost always stay at the Hilton or other nice Hotel. His family also always stays at nice hotels. My mom has a very nice house and car, but is not doing so well nowdays financially. I do not tell BF about mom's hardships. Anyway, today I found out that he was just making the reservation for her, not paying for the room. I recommended Extended Stay (which is cheaper). Then he was like "but I've already made reservations. Why?" Is he dumb or a jerk? both? neither? what to do?

God the Father said plainly in the longest of the 10 Commandments!

Exodus 20:8-11
"Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy... Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy."
=============================================

Saint Paul totally disregards the holiness of ANY HOLY DAY and leaves it up for the individual Christian to decide!

Romans 14:5-6
One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord.

Obviously there are no absolutes in the Bible... It is all up to the individual Christian to decide! Hey, what about abortion? Same sex marriage? and so on... Why isn't the same Biblical principle of free choice applicable in every case?

I mean, he just has to look over the fence at his neighbor, the Christian god, and he sees all the far out stuff that Christians do to please their god but all he gets from his agnostic flock is, “…there might be a god, we’re not sure though…”

Im neither Muslim, Christian, or whatever. I dont have membership in any organized religion. But I read apart of the Quran where Yusuf saw 11 planets in a dream. But how did the Quran and Bible know that there were 11 planets that long ago? How do you explain them being right on that? Yeah Ive heard people say that the Quran is 100% bull because there are 8 planets and someone will surely respond and say that. But for people's information, there are 11. There are 8 large planets and 3 minor planets. These plants are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Ceros, Eris, and Pluto. 8+3 = ?

Springing from daesymae, hope you don't mind. Holding on to pain from the past, produces bittereness, and hate. Some people "choose" to do this. They then produce chemicals, which actually affect their health, and cancer has been linked to this. But most of all, they find themselves, in a never ending vortex, going down and down. This leads to terrible self destruction in your mind and body. It also acts as a self made wall, which you cannot break down, or leap over. Thus, you never move forward, you can't. If people could undersand this, and find a way to let "go", and move on, carpe deum, seize the day, and embrace the future with hope and expectation. We would have a lot more happier and healthier people on the planet. Your comments. SERIOUS anwers, or a v. Please don't comment if you have not read it all.

Lately ive been finding it harder and harder to believe what the Bible says. However, I have no doubt in my mind that there is a God, so theres no dispute there. There are alot of things in the bible that i dont agree with, like the condemning of gays. And there is no way that evolution didnt happen. Saying that it didnt hapen when there is so much fact and evidence is plain ignorant. I mean, the bible was written by man so i think that i can still believe in God without agreeing with everything in the Bible.

so basically im kind of spritually lost. what should i do? am i wrong to think this way?

I found out today that a lot of my beliefs kind of match up with a lot of deeper Mormon beliefs...ok this surprised the hell out of me you better believe it...so i was wondering, before I decide to call the Mormon church down the street I would ask all you wonderful people (I dont know why) what you thought of the Mormons, and the pros and cons, ups and downs, good and bad sides of being Mormon :)

There are so many sects of Christianity, so many different interpretations of the Bible.
If it is so difficult to correctly interpret the Bible, then how can someone be expected to believe any one interpretation?
If you say that you just know it in your heart, then I have to ask why every other sect says the same thing: they know it in their hearts.
Furthermore, if there is one correct interpretation, this leaves the vast majority of Christians as wrong. If it is so easily misinterpreted, how can they be held responsible for having come up with the wrong answer?
You could expand this argument to all world religions.
Please help me understand why one person receives eternal life, while another with just as much faith and conviction will suffer eternally.

Friendly discussion please.

I want DETAILS! Why? Because this year I will be in a new town (I move next week) where I don't know a soul. I will most likely cook a nice little meal for myself (if I can find all of my cooking utensils!).

I would love to be going to a wonderful family and friend-filled delicious dinner. But, that's not going to happen.

So, I want to live vicariously through you...tell me about your "Martha Stewart" Thanksgiving plans. The details are; what type of food, people, activities planned, etc.

I heard a poem years ago. I thought it was called "The Rapture." I have not been able to find it anywhere. I can only remember a few lines. It goes:

The day nor the hour
Only God knows the plan
When will come the son of man
Millions and millions
Woe upon woe
Rivers of blood will continually flow

Has anyone heard a poem like this? If you have, can you post the name of it and the words please. Thanks.

I get really ticked off when I hear that. If you want to live in America fine, become a citizen and speak the language. Speak you other language at home.
