Lately ive been finding it harder and harder to believe what the Bible says. However, I have no doubt in my mind that there is a God, so theres no dispute there. There are alot of things in the bible that i dont agree with, like the condemning of gays. And there is no way that evolution didnt happen. Saying that it didnt hapen when there is so much fact and evidence is plain ignorant. I mean, the bible was written by man so i think that i can still believe in God without agreeing with everything in the Bible.

so basically im kind of spritually lost. what should i do? am i wrong to think this way?

one thing i cant get over though.. is that christians say that the bible was really written by god through man... but the damnation of gay people... if god wrote that when they have no control over their orientation, i simply cant believe anything else the bible has to say

Oh my, I am so sorry that you are having problems believing in the Word of God. However, I am very happy that you do, in fact, believe that God is God! Hun, many get confused on scriptures because they do not keep reading all texts, concerning a topic. I believe if you were to read all scriptures, pertaining to homosexual behavior, you would know, God's truth...not man's. I pray with all my heart that you do just this!! It will help you to understand and your faith, in God will deepen as well.

You sound like a very intelligent young woman! You asked, what you should do? Do these three things and you will not be spiritually lost! Pray, I mean, really cry out to God from your heart and ask Him to guide you, in your spiritual walk! To show you truths so that you can stand upon His truths. Not man's! Read the scriptures, and truly seek God in what you are reading. Third, try surround yourself with those who are likeminded, in Christ Jesus. I can tell you, if you do these three things, your life will be spiritually enlightened and your knowledge will be TRUTH!

I am praying that you find your way back to God in a new and deeper way! That your relationship with God will sustain you, in all aspects of your life. I ask God to give you His peace and walk with you, on your spiritual journey, with your creator.

Blessings,
Gail

There really isn't any easy way of answering this - yes, a person can believe in God without agreeing with everything in the Bible. But then the question becomes, who decides what is and what is not supposed to be believed? and what standard is used?

See, a whole lot of people will let their personal convictions be the judge of the Bible's authenticity, rather than let the Bible be the judge of their own convictions.

I willl pray this...since you have no doubts as to His existance, I pray and hope we all learn it is hard, if not even possible, to choose what aspects we will submit to.

Try reading C.S. Lewis's mere Christianity or one of Lee Stroebel's books Case for Faith or Case for Christ. They will give you something to think about. Then dig back into the Bible again. I tend to mix my reading time to help me understand the Bible more. The more archaeology etc. I have learned and the more I study the scriptures I have realized it was written by man... but God was guiding the pen! Look into different Bible translations to find a reliable and one you can read and understand.

Henry Drummond's the Greatest thing in the World is another book.

In the end it comes down to dedication.. and dedication requires effort.

Actualy one thing Most Christians miss is that Evolution is in the Bible just not to the same extreme people have made in in to. In Genesis chpt. 1 verse 22 and God blessed them saying Be fruitful and multiply and FILL THE WATERS IN THE SEAS AND LET FOWL MULTIPLY ON EARTH.
God never said for it to Stop so in a sense God created evoultion,

also my advice to you would be to seek ye first the kingdom of God and his rightousness and all these things will be added unto you (that includes understanding and wisdom) God will show you his Truth if you look with ALL UR HEART. God bless you

I am a Christian and have the same problem with the bible, in fact I think you will find a great deal of Christians do... Basically I "know" that because god is an all loving god, that he would love people who are gay, he may not want them to live their lives like that. But he loves them the same as he loves everyone else.

If you know and truly love Christ and have asked him into your life and to lead it, you will know what is right and wrong. He will show you the way. Love like he did and does...

Everyone has their own path to follow in life to gain knowledge and truth. I don't feel there is a set in concrete wrong or right way, especially if you are being led by the spirit of the Lord. Where else in the good book other than with the chapter of Lot and the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah was the subject of homosexuality broached?

The Bible doesn't "pick on" gays. It gives God's view on human sexuality and as Jesus said...

Matthew 19:4 He answered, "Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, 5 and said, 'Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh'? 6 So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate."

There are far more passages about fornication and adultery than homosexuality. As to evolution being a fact, the idea that life arose from inanimate matter that was arranged by chance and that all of the complex information contained in the DNA code of every living organism was the result of natural selection cancelling out mistakes over and over again, that idea is ludicrous.

The "simple cell" turns out to be a miniaturized city of unparalleled complexity and adaptive design, including automated assembly plants and processing units featuring robot machines (protein molecules with as many as 3,000 atoms each in three-dimensional configurations) manufacturing hundreds of thousands of specific types of products. The system design exploits artificial languages and decoding systems, memory banks for information storage, elegant control systems regulating the automated assembly of components, error correction techniques and proofreading devices for quality control.

All by chance? All without a Designer?

Why don't you examine the evidence in favor of the divine inspiration of the Bible?

DO YOU WANT TO KNOW WHO "GOD" IS?
God is within man - man is within God!

Or are you going to wander around in circles the rest of your life worrying about the Bible?

The Bible will take care of itself!
You should go within yourself, since that is where God dwells, and find both yourself and God!

It's easy give it a try!

Please forgive me for not quoting scripture or pointing in some direction. God is within you, for my master told me this.

I almost forgot, God loves you and so does this small insignificant Sufi.

People who believe in God but not in any particular religion are called Deist. Many of our founding fathers were Deist. You are wise to begin questioning and researching your religion. Even the Bible says to "question all things".

1Thes.5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

Try researching Deism - see if that fits for you.
