For members of the LDS Church, the entire week can be busy.

Monday: Family Home Evening
Wednesday: Choir, Youth and Boy Scouts' activities; scriptural studies
Saturday: Temple trips, priesthood searches for membership
Sunday: Sacrament, Sunday School, Relief Society, and Priesthood meetings.

Every day: Home teaching and visiting teachers; accompanying missionaries to scheduled appointments.

Pastor Art said it well...the church is people. We should be about our Fathers business every day. Personally, I and my family do not live like heaven on Sunday and like hell on Monday. The acceptance of Jesus as Savior and Lord is serious business.

Having accepted Him as Lord, I have come to learn that He is in charge of me - I committed my life to Him. So, He is Lord on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday...you get the idea.

People over the centuries have made the building something it is not. A building is a building. Does God dwell there? Yes, in the hearts of His children. When the gathering/service is over, the Lord remains in our hearts as we go on with our daily lives at home, work, in the store, etc.

As far as functions in the church, someone else mentioned mid-week Bible studies, youth groups, etc. Many churches have women's gatherings, men's gatherings, ministries for seniors, Mom's Bible studies and more. The activities of a church depend on the mission of that particular congregation and the plans God desires for that congregation.

I think that it would depend on what church you're talking about. Catholic Churches have Mass every day of the week and usually hold reconciliation on Saturdays. They also have other programs during the week. The one that my mother goes to has classes for those who want to convert, Girl Scouts, AA, NA, Bible classes, Classes for new parents, youth groups and other programs that means the building is used all week.

Tuesday evening bible study. Thursday evening evangelistic service. Saturday morning soul winning meeting followed by visits with folks to encourage them to come to church so they can hear the gospel msg. Sunday morning service. Sunday evening service. Also variously scheduled prayer meetings spread throughout week.

My church has children's choir practise on Monday, women's groups meet on Tuesday, prayer meeting Wednesday night, men's group on Thursday, and lately choir practise Saturday in preparation for the Christmas program. As far as the individuals, I am sure most of them work and spend time with their families and friends. My pastor spends his week being there for members of the church who have needs throughout the week. We are also building a new building so people come and volunteer for that throughout the week.

They should be out there making disciples.
