I want DETAILS! Why? Because this year I will be in a new town (I move next week) where I don't know a soul. I will most likely cook a nice little meal for myself (if I can find all of my cooking utensils!).

I would love to be going to a wonderful family and friend-filled delicious dinner. But, that's not going to happen.

So, I want to live vicariously through you...tell me about your "Martha Stewart" Thanksgiving plans. The details are; what type of food, people, activities planned, etc.

Well, since we are spending money to travel and visit family for Christmas, we all voted for Jack in the Box and the movies.

I did cook a chicken, some gravy, rice, green beans, rolls, corn, spinach, fruit salad and pumpkin pie today out of guilt and surprise them. I started off cooking chicken and rice and thought what they heck, they deserve it.

Sometimes chucking tradition and seeing where the day takes you is more fun that the traditional stuff your gut and veg out and hang with family.

One year we got up super early and drove to surprise family. The only restaurant open for breakfast on our route was a little Mexican Restaurant and the only food they had was Chorizo and eggs. Then for lunch we ate sandwiches on the side of the road and watched rattlesnakes crossing the road.
We passed a Zoo that was open so we went in and it was so small, they actually had cows as an exhibit. So we didn't make it to family, but we laughed more that day than in a while.

Another year, my grandma proudly made stuffed flounder from a new recipe and hot dr pepper. The flounder had the head on so no one wanted to eat it (including her) so she fed it to the cats in the alley and ordered pizza and then we went for a drive to the beach and picked up shells.

On my first holiday alone, I got so homesick I started baking cookies from a recipe book that has been passed down for years. I made so many cookies that I didn't know what to do with them, so I called the shelter and asked could I bring them. They happily accepted and I confess, selfishly it made me feel better about being alone.

My second Turkey day on my own, I went to a casino, and played the nickel slots. I spent 2 bucks and won 180 and considering I was a struggling student, I thought I was the shizzle. I ended up getting a free buffet meal out of that too and sat with a lady and man that were from KY. They insisted I sit with them. They were cool. They argued like they had been married 100 years but still held hands and giggled too.

Well, I guess I shared enough. Hope you Have a Gobbly good Day!

I won't be able to visit my family this year, so this is what I'll be doing Thanksgiving day:

I'll spend the morning at the office getting caught up on some things when there will be no one there to bother me and the phone won't be ringing.

Fix myself a nice steak dinner with all the trimmings for lunch.

Then I'm going to go see two or three movies; I'm thinking 'American Gangster', 'Beowulf', and maybe 'Lions for Lambs'.

Then I'll probably go out to my favorite local bar to hang out with all my friends once they're sick of their families and need a drink.

well everyone is going to eat Turkey, so thats the first thing on my mind. And my son has the next week off of school, so im gonna take him out to play or to the movies or something., In fact, im gonna take my whole family to the movies. I usually buy presants for my family, but this year, im thinking of something that will help my whole family, such as buying a new T.V. or a ps3 or something.

It's just myself, my husband my 2 daughters, and my 2 sisters along with my nephew. (Total of 7)
We plan on just eating and talking about whatever. We may rent some movies or just go and see one. Nothing fancy. We may go visiting to other relatives houses, too. Our menu consists of:

a small turkey, a small honey ham, greens, cornbread dressing, dinner rolls, cranberry sauce, gravy, macaroni & cheese, green beans, cinnamon apples, a couple cakes, ice cream, and some sweet potato pies.

My family will have thanksgiving with my mom. We'll have all the full transitional trimming. I'm responsible for the collard greens and Potatoes salad.

Well the only "activity" I can think of is plenty of football.

As far as the menu, I'm cooking greens, dressing, a smoked turkey, macaroni and cheese, and peach cobbler.

It'll just be me, my husband, my kids, and my BFF is flying in from Austin.

Both of my parents are in heaven.
My brother and sisters do their own thing.

This is the third year I will be covering a safe house for women and children who are victims of domestic and/or sexual violence.

We will fix the very traditional meal.
I enjoy cooking for other people.
I have had lots of fun in the past.
I feel it is very important for me to do.
