Well most Christians don’t believe his death was permanent, but that he rose from the dead shortly after his crucifixion, and bodily ascended into heaven shortly after that. Good luck with obtaining any facts from most Christians to substantiate this belief.
Those who are somewhat versed in apologetics will either adduce Biblical testimony from the Gospels and various letters and epistles of the New Testament, which in and of themselves are dubious. Or they will point to some vague historical work, already discredited by historians as being interpolated, such as Flavius Josephus’s reference to Jesus in his Antiquities of the Jews. Even the extra-canonical sources that cite the miraculous powers of Jesus are scant and contradictory.
Ultimately, the paucity of evidence for any of the grandiose claims about Jesus, leads most Christians to not make a historical case, as much as try to prove the transformative effect Jesus has on the lives of many people. This line of argumentation is not very cogent because it can be used to substantiate many concepts, which are at odds with each other.

Jesus is not dead, He is seated at the right hand of God the Father in the Heavenly places.
After the crucifixion, Jesus rose from the dead, defeating death, and opening the doors of Heaven. There were over 500 witnesses of His resurrection, and not all of them were Christians. The history books show that Jesus' resurrection is well established. If you really want to know, go to the library and go to work. Or, you could just take a chance and see if He returns. Of course that will be to late to escape the consequences.

Jesus was an ordinary man, but a prophet. The story about the crucifixion is that he was near death, and only appeared to be 'dead'. He was revived, ie. resucitated, this was known (foretold) to be about to happen, and so preparations were made so that he would be revived. He slowly recovered and made the journey to India, settling in Kashmir where he spent the greater part of his life, and is buried there.
See www.tombofjesus.com
Also see the British documentary "Did Jesus Die?" which takes you there.
The Talmud Jmmanuel - details this version of events.
So what Christianity did - was to change the original story, to what you know today - an unbelievable story.
The resurrection simply did not happen - because we all know that it is an impossible event, for which there is no historical record. However there is one for the above original version.

And you are a top contributor?
How can facts be presented when they have not happened yet?
If you are trying to be sarcastic, this is the stupidiest way to try to put down beliefs that you don't know and wouldn't understand.
I could explain to you, even that I'm not a Christian, the Principles of Resurrection, but I don't have the slightest desire to educate an ignorant horse patoot like you, that have no respect for the beliefs of others. Trying to ridicule faith only shows how huge level of ignorance you possess.

The fact is that if the story of Jesus is true, then he isn't dead...he experienced death for three days and then came back to life. If that part of the story isn't true, then the "I will return" part isn't true either so your question is pointless.
Quite simple really...if you believe he is coming back, then you also believe that the rose from the dead...if you don't believe one part of that, you don't believe the other either so the question is meaningless. Sort of like asking how a unicorn's magic works if you don't believe unicorns exist.

He can't. He's dead. Myths live on, though, like Elvis, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain and Jesus in no particular order or importance.

this is a promise of Christ and we only have to believe and have faith on it that it will happen. Just like when He died on the cross; that too is a promise in the Old Testament that God will bring a Savior who will save us from all our sins.
