Christmas is coming early for my family. Literally. See, my Mom's husband lives in England, and just after Thanksgiving, she's moving back there for a few months, then coming back here again... yeah, it's kind of a cycle. Anyways, the big problem I'm having, is the gift I get her needs to be small enough that she can take it with her to England, yet I don't want to get her some crappy gift either.

She seems to like either "cute things" (which my sister already bought her a 'set' of small teddy bears), and interesting gadgets. Or gag gifts.

Seriously, I really appreciate any help on this. I'm gonna keep searching for something, but any I could definitely use some ideas.

Please:

1. Explain the "theory"
2. Provide its null hypothesis
3. Provide an example of an experiment to test the hypothesis
4. Explain how it is a scientific theory that competes with evolution and therefor should be taught in a biology class
5. Defend through fact and empiricism the notion of irreducible complexity

I suspect that very few bible thumpers even understand how to approach these questions. I think most religobots just know that intelligent design=creationism=christianity and that is good enough for them. Some religious autocrat jsut told them its science and like everything else, they believe it.

Story on Yahoo today:

Santas warned 'ho ho ho' offensive to women
Wed Nov 14, 11:04 PM ET
SYDNEY (AFP) - Santas in Australia's largest city have been told not to use Father Christmas's traditional "ho ho ho" greeting because it may be offensive to women, it was reported Thursday.
Sydney's Santa Clauses have instead been instructed to say "ha ha ha" instead, the Daily Telegraph reported.
One disgruntled Santa told the newspaper a recruitment firm warned him not to use "ho ho ho" because it could frighten children and was too close to "ho", a US slang term for prostitute.

What do you think? Your honest answer please, is this phrase offensive to women? What's the world coming to when Santa can't say ho ho ho?

Job 26:17 says the Earth is suspended on nothing. How could a man living in that era know this? many cultures in that time had different beleives about how the earth stood in the universe. But, only the inspired word of God tells us the truth because after all, he is the creator.

and what about this Job 28:25 states that air has weight. recent science has confirmed this but it was centuries after God had revealed this.

They are christians who adhere strictly to the bible, word for word. Other people use what they want from the bible and pretend the other stuff isn't there. I almost respect those psycho, brainwashed people.
I bet most christians don't agree with the Westboro Baptist church and the disgusting things they do. Isn't that the same as not agreeing with the old testament? If you follow the new testament, when did god come back, and why didn't anyone see him?

Many people claim that God created life on Earth. All you would have to do to disprove this is show that life arose from inanimate matter in a sterile environment with no outside interference or manipulation. Why is that so hard to do? Perhaps because it has already been proven that it is impossible, and yet life exists strongly indicating that it must be a miracle?

Clearly religions need to be involved with the development of a more comprehensive worldview and ethics to assist in reversing this trend. Whether from an anthropocentric or a biocentric perspective, more adequate environmental values need to be formulated and linked to areas of public policy. Scholars of religion can be key players in this articulation process. Moreover, there are calls from other concerned parties to participate in a broader alliance to halt the loss of species, topsoil, and natural resources. It is our hope to expand this alliance of scholars and activists by creating common ground for dialogue and creative partnership in envisioning and implementing long range solutions to some of our most pressing environmental problems. This is critical because the attitudes and values that shape people’s concepts of nature come primarily from religious worldviews and ethical practices. The moral imperative and value systems of religions are indispensable in mobilizing the

How do you determine who is trustworthy? The avatar you're communicating with could be anyone. If I converse with someone who claims to be a young woman in her twenties she could actually be some pervert in his 50's.

Yet I still take people for their word, and assume they are who they claim. It doesn't make sense I guess.

What about you? Do you close yourself off and not get invested? If you do get invested, how do you know for sure the other person is being truthful?

Although I guess we can never determine if someone else is being truthful, be it online or face to face.

Thoughts?

Notice I capitalized both Theist and Atheist, I remember a small debate on that a couple weeks ago, that Atheist should be capitalized!...everybody happy!
