If you have Theist friends do you actively try to get them to become Atheist? Or do you just keep your views to yourself unless they ask you about them?
I myself only talk about it if they ask me questions about it.

Get it str8! We're not "non-believers!" We're non-fanatic, non-agnostiphobic, non-fundamentalist, non-religious. But NOT non-believers! That slur makes atheists and agnostics sound like the little party-pooper neighbour kids who won't get into the spirit of the game of pirates or Robin Hood, but instead keep telling all the other rug-rats, "That's NOT a real pirate ship! That's just a dumb laundry basket!"
(Oh wait. We ARE those kids who burst the other kiddies' pretty bubbles!) ((My bad.))

But I repeat! We're not pigs! If we're swine just because we won't convert, then you've gotta be something too! You guys are ... bandicoots! Or gophers.

Joking aside, why be so rude? "Swine" is harsh.

New Pledge of Allegiance (TOTALLY AWESOME) !

Since the Pledge of Allegiance
and
The Lord's Prayer
are not allowed in most
public schools anymore
Because the word "God" is mentioned....
A kid in Arizona wrote the poem below

NEW School prayer :
Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.

Does USA still trust in God?

So I just asked this question, but I didn't get my question across right. For those who have answered the other one, sorry about that.
So my second attempt:

If Adam and Eve left the Garden of Eden around 4000 BC (an approximation, not an exact date), they would have told their children about the One God. As with religions, after being raised on the God of the Garden of Eden, a religion would have started nearly immediately.
However, Yahweh was not mentioned again until around 1800 BC (again, not an exact date, but pretty close). IF the stories in the OT were passed down from the children of Adam and Eve, why did it take so long for the religion (or even the idea of monotheism) to start?
If written tradition started around 3000 BC, why did the stories (that had to have been prevalent for the idea of Oral Tradition to actually work) wait until 1300 BC to be written down?
My question is, if these stories started from the beginning of time, why did they take so long to be heard?

I'm just wondering why are they considered a racist symbol. When they have been used for thousands of years, to hang many people of different races and religions even before the American's were discovered. Criminals and innocent have been hanged by nooses. I recently saw an article in People that talked about nooses left in places where people that are African American were working and/living. I'm not condoning this at all. I think it is disgusting to use a noose at all. I understand to a lot of people nooses remind them of the 50s and 60s when they were part of lynching. I don't want a debate, I just want a better understanding of this situation. I appreciate your thoughts and comments. PS if you are going to say anything hateful I don't want to hear it, there is enough hate in this world.

my wife and i just finished saying goodbye to a mutual acquaintance. i turned around to pick up my bag and when i turned back the other way i saw him throw my wife a kiss( after already kissing her goodbye) i caught it with the corner of my eye. my wife says it was weird but not to read to much into it cause that is cultural for mexican people.

According to classical Greek religion, Chaos existed in the beginning, and then gave birth to Gaia (the Earth), Tartarus (the Underworld), Eros (desire), Nyx (the darkness of the night) and Erebus (the darkness of the Underworld). I know you might be dissuaded by the all the mythical creatures mentioned in our Holy texts such as the hydra and the gorgon (medusa) but they can obviously be translated to dinosaurs. See the word dinosaur was coined in the 1800s so the Greeks didn't have the exact word to describe all the giant reptiles.

So why don't you atheists accept creationism!?

This comparison just dawned on me and I was amazed at its aptness. Atheists are like the mutants on X-Men because we have progressed beyond the need to believe in imaginary concepts and the need to have a moral code based on a primitive ideology. Just like the mutants have evolved beyond the limitations of a typical human body and also, like the mutants, atheists are a distinct minority (in the USA, that is).

The mutants have split into two distinct groups – Xavier’s crew try to promote peace between mutants and non-mutants whilst Magneto’s crew hatch evil plans and are hell-bent on terrorizing non-mutants. Atheists seem to have split the same way as well because there are some that accept that they are a minority and don’t try to push their non-belief onto people who still do believe. These are like Xavier’s crew whilst the ones like Magneto’s crew use every opportunity to ridicule the absurd beliefs and primitive ideologies of the god-believers.

I’d either be a Magneto type figure of at least part of his crew; which one would you be?

Or to My Girl Friends Kitchen? I understand these places do all the prep work, peeling, dicing, chopping, and the food is placed in large containers, and a receipe for a main course hung up, along with a desert receipe. And you measure the ingrediets for the main course, say three main courses, and mix and put them into plastic containers and then wrap them up, seal, tape and label them and then take them home and put them in your freezer, to be taken out later and eaten. I understand you can do as many as you wish.
If any of you have done this, were the meals good, well thought out, expensive. Would you do it again?
