Alright, them's fightin' words when you Christians start calling us non-religious folk "swine."

Get it str8! We're not "non-believers!" We're non-fanatic, non-agnostiphobic, non-fundamentalist, non-religious. But NOT non-believers! That slur makes atheists and agnostics sound like the little party-pooper neighbour kids who won't get into the spirit of the game of pirates or Robin Hood, but instead keep telling all the other rug-rats, "That's NOT a real pirate ship! That's just a dumb laundry basket!"
(Oh wait. We ARE those kids who burst the other kiddies' pretty bubbles!) ((My bad.))

But I repeat! We're not pigs! If we're swine just because we won't convert, then you've gotta be something too! You guys are ... bandicoots! Or gophers.

Joking aside, why be so rude? "Swine" is harsh.

This view is only held by people who are pig ignorant.
There is an old saying that goes "Dogs look up to you, cats look down at you but pigs treat you as equals"

it is an oxymoron if I ever heard one. in case you do no longer want a non secular connection with something on your wedding ceremony, then why in the international might you have a minister carry out it? i'm no longer extremely constructive I understand what "religious activities" of the marriage you're relating which you like. the only "religious" experience at a church wedding ceremony is the minister/pastor/priest asserting prayers for the couple; the readings, and so on. in case you do no longer choose for those, then you definitely ought to look right into a non-religious officiant (there are a number of...only use Google) on your section. all the different issues related to a marriage....walking up the aisle; a solidarity candle; asserting the vows; replacing the jewelry are all non-religious activities for the duration of the ceremony that are completed the two at a church wedding ceremony and at a non-church wedding ceremony.

Just because someone does not believe does not make him swine. The Bible stated that one should not cast pearls to swine because swine will trample the pearls under their feet then turn on the person and injure them with their teeth. This is a bit more than just someone who does not believe in God. This is a person whom one shares knowledge or something very valuable with. The person is not only ignorant but has no respect for that thing of value. The person will treat the precious thing poorly then turn on the one who gave it and leave him injured and scarred. Thus, the Bible advises one to recognize people who have that kind of swine mentality and not share things of great value with them...I believe non-believers also would follow such advice. My dad called that kind of lack of wisdom in sharing like fattening a frog to feed to a venemous snake. The Bible advises believers to show non-believers a Godly example of love so that the unbeliever will desire The God in that believer. That does not mean that the believer has to do everything that the unbeliever wants him to do either. The believer has every right to follow his/her beliefs and values. Jesus never crammed anything down anyone's throat. See what He said to the rich young ruler. When the rich young ruler did not want to do as Jesus suggested, we do not see any hint that Jesus went after him, trying to force him to believe. The young man asked; Jesus answered; the young man made a choice. When there are consequences involved because of a person's choice, then they are responsible...the choice was theirs...no greater form of democracy...since everyone wants freedom to choose...It is granted. God will only have those who choose him...There will never, again, be rebellion in heaven because of those who are discontent and cause an uprising...No one will be forced to go there...ever!

He didn't call the non-religious swine. He was taking about the general Yahoo Answers participants. For all we know, he could have been talking about both religious and non-religious.

Otherwise, "swine" is harsh, but that's the other point. It is one thing to call someone a swine, and it is another to compare them to an allegorical saying. I could say, for example, "My boss is just like Aesop's frogs wanting a king." That doesn't mean that I am calling my boss a frog - it means that his demand for direct supervision is a bad idea.

That question clearly violates the community standards. Go ahead and report it like I just did. You'll feel better.

If you re-read the question with a calmer mind, he never actually calls you swine.

But asks if people think hanging out with atheists on R&S resembles what the Bible calls "casting pearls before swine"

So, you are over reacting, misquoting and lying.

Speak for yourself. I am atheist, and that means I am a non-believer.

I don't believe in things that I know to be true. That just seems like a weird concept. Belief is only needed when there is doubt.

But I thought atheists for the most part believe in evolution.....so weren't you swine at one point? I just don't see the insult.

they resort to using derogatory accusations and name calling because they feel threatened by us non believers

our very existence of saying we don't believe in those old stories makes them question themselves

and that's when things get ugly and people grow defensive since nobody likes to be wrong...
